Maybe should rename it:

ETA: Odd considering I don't think I have a single post for like a quarter of this thread. God forbid someone want to discuss things on a message board.

I saw R1 for the 2nd time yesterday and I liked it slightly better. I still feel 80% of the score is very subpar. I still feel like cassian could have been written better or either he or the pilot eliminated all together from the story. I ACTUALLY Liked saw Guerrero better the second viewing. I like felicity Jones more in the second viewing but feel her character could have been better written or a couple of scenes added to make her shine more.

I feel bad for Ben mendohlson. His character was really neutered in this one. He wasn't evil enough to for me to despise or fear. They played him against iconic characters like tarkin and vader and no amount of acting chops could survive that.

I think they should have used Vader more...not in fighting scenes but to add stronger antagonism to the story.

All of that said this one is more rewatchable than I first thought. The scenes on jedha are very good star wars. The final act is exhilarating.

I agree with most of the praise, as well as the complaints the movie's getting. In some ways, it's better than TFA. In others, its not. Overall, I liked it.

This is exactly how I feel. I was very "meh" about it on my first watch. I actually enjoyed it quite a bit the second time around.

That list is much better and actually makes sense...and isn't narrated by that idiot girl from the other list.

Enjoyed the movie with my kids. It was entertaining and the story was good. As a Disney stockholder I say you should go see it a few more times

Exactly why is the girl an idiot? Aside from the fact that it was a bit long, she didn't make any stupid points and it was a little bit entertaining.

Serious, Clark?

She goes on and on about how characters had no reason for being there. Only one character had a "story arc"??? I couldn't watch the last 2 or 3 minutes because my brain was sliding out my ear due to her lack of comprehension.

I don't care if she didn't like it...she simply presented herself as foolish.

Ok, what was Cassian's arc? Or the Asian guy's arc? Jyn barely has one. Compare this to TFA. Pretty easy to point out the main character's arcs.

Is he the same at the end as presented at the beginning? Nope

She went from not giving a frick about the fight to sacrificing herself to save others. Sure barely an arc.

Are you trying to say that every character needs to have an arc in a movie or book? If so, that's pretty retarded.

Also if so, then how bad did you hate Aliens?

Well, since you responded before I got a chance to come back...I will respond to your post and add to it.

I agree with your comments, by the way.

He did have a shift in perspective. When we first meet him, he is simply trying to complete his mission, without regards to who needs to die for that to happen. He kills the messenger at the beginning because he had now become a liability (couldn't climb the wall due to his arm and was a sitting duck and a possible leak). He later cannot do his job because his new feelings for Jyn. He sacrifices himself for the cause and for another.

Yes, she pretends her father is dead. She claims that if you ignore the Empire's rule, it will not affect them as much. She then rallies the troops, saves the day, and sacrifices herself for the good of the rebellion.

His arc is not as big as the others. He is the wise old man that shows up in many stories to only show others honorable traits, such as faith, patience, dedication, and friendship.

Well, in the beginning he kills someone, but I don't see any reason why he "changed". Han in the original trilogy, it's pretty easy to point out.

So was it just her father and Forrest Whitaker being killed that did it? I don't really see the arc.

No, but she had a point instead of just being mindlessly gunned down he should have gone out like a badass instead.
