I give it a 7/10. It was enjoyable. The first half of the movie is better than the second half, the pacing is bad (especially in the second half), and the movie really doesn’t trust its audience at all (it seems to go out of its way to explain stuff rather than just let forshadowing do its thing). It tells when it could just show. It also frequently puts cuteness in the foreground frequently enough that it feels like jingling keys in front of a baby.

With that said, despite its flaws, it’s still entertaining. Great action set pieces, cool worlds that feel lived in, the plot is interesting enough, and It’s a self-contained adventure outside a few cameos by familiar Feloni verse characters. I had fun and felt like I got my money’s worth

Im planning on going tonight. Did you see in imax or standard?

Standard. The movie looks gorgeous, especially the different worlds. There’s a mountainy snow planet, a cyberpunk night city style place, a swampy planet, etc. They all look really cool. I bet it would look great in IMAX.

You can be sure when Disney's dick is out, Corinthians will put it in his mouth and Sammy Tiger will be along to play with the balls.

how would I do that?

If it makes more than that it will be a miracle and even if it does, it'll still be a generic slopfest that does nothing for the universe

just an old Pascal looking drugged out and a baby that will never grow up

nice to hear positive stuff about it.

Season 1 of Mando is maybe my favorite Star Wars content outside the OT. I would hate for this to be a complete bust and the character get completely shelved.

You really cant help yourself can you? Disney Derangement Syndrome.

Youve spent more time talking about this movie than most people have ever invested in something they couldn't care less about.

Again, tell me what goalposts are being moved. Whether or not it makes enough money to make its budget back, it is still a creative failure.

Just like Chris Nolan's 2 Live Krewe Odyssey that you love so much

you tell me, what should Disney do from here? Continue making this garbage or actually try to do something that will bring fans back?

Is it totally stand alone, or do I need to brush up on the previous Mando seasons to follow?

Isnt this their first star wars movie release in 7 years?

By "continue making this garbage" what are you referring to? The last 2 things they released are Andor and Maul. You consider those garbage or u choose to not acknowledge them because they dont fit the narrative?

Totally stand alone. All you need to know is Mando is a Mandalorian and a bounty hunter who works for the New Republic, and that Grogu is a force sensitive baby that’s his adopted son.

If you watched Clone Wars and Rebels, there’s easter eggs and character cameos here and there, but you don’t need to have watched those shows to understand who those characters are in the context of this movie.

Are you trying to say that an animated show and one tv show that didn't have any viewership but was well-made somehow exonerate Disney from ruining the franchise?

Here's what I'm referring to, Favreau himself:
quote:

In an interview with GamesRadar, Favreau openly admitted he doesn’t entirely understand why Lucasfilm selected The Mandalorian and Grogu as the movie for franchise’s theatrical comeback after years of canceled, delayed, and quietly abandoned projects.

“I’m not sure what, exactly, why we were asked to do this,” Favreau admitted. “I suspect it was because these are characters that people, even who hadn’t seen Star Wars, may be aware of, especially Grogu. Baby Yoda was everywhere,” Favreau explained.

You're defending this garbage and the director didn't even want to make it because it's a toy commercial for baby yoda dolls females think are cute.

Pathetic

I agree you are

I know you need a moral victory but if you didnt enjoy maul or andor its self-inflicted. Nothing favreau said means he didnt care or wanna make an enjoyable movie.

If you go into everything (including this movie) looking for reasons to hate it, im sure youll find enough to justify your own mentality.

But what do you gain besides imaginary e-credit for saying "i told you so". Do you really think that makes you happier than the rest of us that still have an open mind?

And you’re a pathetic soy-faced Disney simp. Congrats.

You have no comeback to Favreau himself shitting on this movie so you resort to showing your true character clown.

Star Wars was meant to be a movie for everyone to enjoy, yes. But 2 of those examples are rated R and weren’t meant for kids either. Yeah, kids saw them but not likely at the actual movie theaters for most. What are you trying to say?

Agreed.

My favorite movie ever is Jaws. Profile pic probably gives that away.

I was probably 5 the first time I watched it. I remember thinking a shark was going to nab me in my bathtub in a cabin the mountains

Its gonna take more like $650 to $700 to break even. $166 million production budget plus another $175 in P&A has been reported.

I just saw it. Here’s my honest review:

It is NOT awful. It’s a good movie. Lots of action. It’s fun.

The only negative is that it really does not drive any greater (significant) story arc.

It really is just like watching a long episode of the TV show with longer action scenes.

But it’s a formula that works, and it works here.

If I had to grade it out of 10, It’s an 8. Was I entertained? Yes. Let down in any way? No. Would I have done some things different? Yes. Did I make the movie? No.
