Just an FYI, things were different in the 80's . I watched Aliens, Robocop. T2, Total Recall, Predator, Die Hard pretty much all the big R rated action movies in the theater starting with Aliens at 8 years old. We all did. The kids who's parents wouldnt let them watch rated R movies were actually the minority.
I was 7 when T2 came out. I didn't know anyone whose parents took them to R rated movies at the theater.

I agree that Starfighter could be good, but if it's a one-off movie, that doesn't do much to build momentum for the brand.
That's the issue, one-off movies or series like Rogue One, Starfighter, and Andor have been their best projects, then they pivot to people like Rian Johnson for a new trilogy and let him destroy it.

It’s a shame too because they build up so much fan love by the end of season 2. People were straight crying when CGI Luke showed up and kicked arse.

I think my brother was Four when my parents took him to see T2: Judgement Day. To this day it's still his favorite movie.

Same. I saw all those in theaters. Predator was the first r rated I remember Predator 2 was the first one I went with just friends to. We would buy tickets to a different movie and sneak in. Like Home Aline for Predator 2 and Ernest for Richochet are two I remember. A neighborhood teen worked at the cinema and often let us in the back door.

Ok, just finished about 30 minutes ago. I don’t understand these critics saying this is the worst Star Wars movie of all time. That is hyperbolic nonsense. It is however a 2 hour glorified episode. It did capture some of the magic of the first 2 seasons of the show and it had a bunch of fun moments. There is nothing inherently bad about the movie; unless you hate macguffins. In that case you will hate this movie. Main character is a bounty hunter and well macguffins just come with the territory. If this move bombs and it probably will; it will be because season 3 was subpar, they waited too long and let the hype die, and the marketing was absolute unorganized slop. I actually believe the RT audience score for this will be in the range of 76-82%.

The problem I'm seeing is that it's a story about nothing, basically. There are no stakes and it's like a bunch of DLC sidequests strung together
is that fair?

Yes it is a Seinfeld Star Wars movie. There is some interesting stuff going on with the Hutts but there is no major stakes up for grabs other than the Republic trying to get “intel” from imperial remnants.
The major flaw to the film is plot armor but that was to be expected.

Mando and Grogu don’t hold each other as they wait for the planet to explode after sending their intel to the resistance?

He is a UFC fighter while his old man lounged around and was sedentary.
