quote:

The Mandalorian and Grogu is far from the bottom of the barrel when it comes to the films within Star Wars, but it certainly will go down as easily the most forgettable.

quote:

The runtime saps energy and when it’s all done, the scrolling credits for all those special effects goes on a full five minutes. You used to leave a new “Star Wars” movie on a cloud. Here, that galaxy is far, far away.

quote:

I don’t hate this movie, so that’s enough for a recommendation… barely, which is more than I can say for other Disney Star Wars shows and films. Kids will eat this movie up. Adults deserve better.

quote:

Director Jon Favreau and his writers have set up such an amiable, easy to get premise that you don't even need to know whether this story take place during the trajectory of the 10 (counting "Rogue Nation") original films

quote:

The Mandalorian And Grogu may prove inessential as a milestone in the wider Star Wars story, but it remains well-crafted, brisk and entertaining.

quote:

By nudging “The Mandalorian” onto the big screen, Disney, the purveyor of the “Star Wars” multiverse, is offering nothing more (or less) than a couple of likable, diverting, semi-forgettable episodes jammed together.

Whelp. . .

Star Wars is made for the critics. So if even they aren't digging it, must be bad

Good. Send the Kennedy era of Star Wars out with a whimper.

I just can’t justify going to movies to see the equivalent of two episodes of the Mandalorian.

Awww it's not the next Citizen Kane or Gone with the Wind epic. Whatever, it's Shiny Boba Fett and a plush toy, take the kids and enjoy for what it is. Efx and French Hutts

My friends and I are taking our boys to see it. I'm sure they'll enjoy it. Idk if I'd be going if my son wasn't interested. It's crazy to be saying that since I loved star wars so much growing up.

What does Sigourney Weaver say in the commercial? Something about the fate of the universe...

why would we enjoy this? It's literally a children's movie.

modern hollywood thinks they have to dumb down movies for kids. We watched Batman, Aliens, Terminator 2 and Jurassic Park when we were kids and those were NOT "made for kids"

will not be seeing this

Star Wars was meant to be a movie for everyone to enjoy, yes. But 2 of those examples are rated R and weren’t meant for kids either. Yeah, kids saw them but not likely at the actual movie theaters for most. What are you trying to say?

You’ve never enjoyed a movie you took your kids to?

Good kids movies have appeal for the adults as well.

The more I see reviews for the movie, from people that I know and trust their opinions, the better it comes across. I'm a tad bit disappointed that it doesn't sound like there's more to it, but it still sounds like a really fun time.

the big issue seems to be that it doesn’t really bush the overall story forward.

My biggest concern is that the movie itself has no real central plot.

Probably should have been a series but if it’s just Mando and Grogu going around doing bounty hunter stuff, I will be happy. that’s what I want. Just stories in the world. not everything has to be the world changing

I’m baffled at how they thought this slop was a good idea for the first Star Wars movie in 7 years

what don't you get? I said it in the post. Don't dumb movies down for kids, make them for adults and kids still love them.

Do you know how many toys from Aliens and T2 were made? Stop being obtuse.

We went in to KB Toys and I got a terminator endoarm and it's rated R. This movie is made for no one and no one will want to see it

Star wars films were always such big events. It's crazy how little hype it generates now. Sad times

Lucas would have never allowed something like this to release if he still owned the IP

It’s over for Star Wars. At best, Disney will simply shelve the IP and stick to merchandising and toys which has already generated them billions alone in revenue.

People would be excited for a new trilogy (without the sequel trilogy characters)...this low-quality made for TV garbage isn't cutting it.
