Saw Holdovers last night. Great film. Well written, acted and directed. Kind of like Sideways and Dead Poet’s films having a baby if that makes sense. 3 touching and plausible storylines for the main 3 characters. (Giamatti, the kid and the cook). Glad to see it on the large screen. I’d say nomination for Giamatti and possibly Mary as supporting for sure. Likely others too. Very refreshing film w/o any hidden/obvious agendas or preaching. The closest it gets is calling elite/private boarding school kids spoiled but its not pervasive.

This was an excellent movie. Very glad I went. The kid actor was awesome as was Giamatti.

Saw it last night. Really good movie. They don’t make many like it anymore

I like that the MTVB reviews are sitting at 100%

Really enjoyed this one, everyone should see it. It prompted me to rewatch Sideways. I had forgotten how good it is.

It will be on Peacock at some point, but right now it’s only in theaters. It’s easily worth the price of admission.

Agree. Except Dead Poet’s society had an affair with jeramiah Johnson and it’s really his biological kid being raised by sideways and dead poet’s society.
I enjoyed thoroughly. We’ve probably all seen this ending before in half a dozen different movies, but it was just a movie with a lot of heart and three character stories you really care about.
The 70s really just work so well as a setting for nostalgia movies. I can’t watch these movies and think anything other than cell phones are the biggest pox on humanity ever unleashed.

I bought it through Apple for $30. Giamatti is one of my favorite actors. It has an 70s noir to it. I love the vibe of the trailer. Hope its good.

That was Focus Features plan to release today on VOD (news to me) .... though it's still playing on 1600 theaters and performing well.
Most certainly worth a rental as it's easily a top ten film of the year.

I’m surprised it’s straight to a $6 rental. Most new releases have a few weeks at $20, especially ones still in theaters. Easily worth that.

same .. seems like 14.99 is still fair considering it's in the theaters and will be for a few more weeks i suspect.

It'll be on Peacock in another week or two

Seems too soon

Amazon caught their mistake I believe.

My favorite part. Definitely old school feel to it.

Watched this last night. Fantastic movie. It had one of the better insults I've heard in a while: "I have known you since you were a boy, so I think I have the requisite experience and insight to aver that you are, and always have been, penis cancer in human form."
