Reeves has said he plans to include a rogues gallery of Batman villains in the film.

Ugh

We've seen this before; Batman v Joker, Batman v Penguin, Batman v Catwoman, Batman v Two Face, Batman v Riddler, Batman v Ice Man, Batman v Poison Ivy

They are suffocating the comic book genre with the same tired stories. People are going to get disinterested very quickly

Let's round out the rest of the cast. I'd like to see

Andy Serkis as Penguin
Oscar Isaac as Harvey Dent
Pierce Brosnan for Alfred

Dream cast?

Bad Guys:
Bill Skarsgard as Scarecrow
Stephen Root as Penguin
Mark Hamill as Joker (or Willem Dafoe)
Bradley Cooper as Black Mask
John Lithgow as The Ventriloquist
Peter Dinklage as Scarface
Keanu Reeves as Two Face
Jean Reno as Hugo Strange
Andy Serkis as Clayface
Vin Diesel as Solomon Grundy
Glenn Howerton as Riddler
Jason Statham as Freeze

Good Guys:
Colin Firth as Alfred
Nick Offerman as Jim Gordon (I think he could knock a Batman:TAS style Gordon out the park)

Paul Dano is a horrible actor. No decent roles whatsoever. Why is he still a thing?

fantastic casting. this movie is probably going to kick a bunch of arse.

I might be in the minority here, but I feel like Batman and Robin was the low point, and every iteration of Batman since then has gotten progressively better.

I'd say that's pretty spot on.

I thought Christian Bale was way better in every aspect than Ben Affleck. Am I alone in that?

Commissioner Gordon is black, so I guess Batgirl will have to be black too. Why does Hollywood hate redheads so much?

I disagree.

I thought Affleck was great.

Affleck has been the best cinematic Batman. Finally had a Caped Crusader who looked like he could whip some arse.

TBH I really didn't have a problem with Clooney as Batman. He did what he could with a god awful script directed by a man trying to make a live action cartoon/toy commercial. No actor alive could have saved that shite.

shoutout to Matt Reeves for letting IndieWire cast the new Batman movie. he's been such a wonderful collaborator!

(Helena Howard and Laura Dern's roles will be revealed in the next few days)

If the bottom of the tweet is true, we got Leslie Thompkins and Batgirl maybe?

Not sure but it’s not due until Summer 2021 so they have time. And I’m not sure she’s confirmed either.

Cast should be confirmed sometime this spring so they can start filming next summer/early fall

I disagree.

I think introducing a rogue gallery early can kind of set up Batman in his own universe. Batman deserves a cinematic universe of movies himself. I’d love to see separate movies in this Batman universe with this cast and have it all interconnected and some of them not feature Bats.

And if he’s setting up a rogue gallery they don’t all have to feature as major villains or get heavy screen time. Penguin and Catwoman can be the big dogs with The Riddler having a side story and not coming in until later. I like them going ahead and setting most of his rogue gallery into place. Still leaves room for Harvey Dent’s descent, the Joker to show up later and a few other surprises like Ra’s. But most people know these characters so damn well that we don’t need a ton of setup. Having a Batman that’s already been fighting these freaks skips out the training montage with Bruce, wasted screen time setting up the villain for the first 1/3 of the movie. Dick Grayson can already be living as his ward, maybe not Robin yet, so they can still do set ups with some characters if they want but knocking out a big chunk will certainly help the storytelling. Maybe this way it can dip more into the detective side of Batman, that noir feel Reeves said he wants to go with.

Regardless, I think Reeves has earned benefit of the doubt with the two Apes movies he directed. Those were incredible films and I’m all for seeing a detective driven Batman story with a little kickass action spread throughout.
