That doesn’t seem likely or a natural reason for her to be a dick to him and no one else.

This is the only thing about the episode I didn't really like.

But I also feel like we're going to find out she's doing it on purpose as a way to help HIM and he just doesn't realize it yet.

I'm sure we'll find out that she's a real gem of a lady soon enough because here's no way a masculine looking female minority is going to be the antagonist in a modern day TV show

Couldn’t have a white guy being the smartest person in the room. Ted was always one step ahead of his team and even Rebecca last year. He pushed the right buttons and did the right things. Time to put him in his place.

Yeah, I imagine she sees something that Ted’s missing with the players. Honestly, her character didn’t bother me much besides not waving back at Ted

Rory is still my favorite. I felt him on that double date at a very deep level.

She’s unnecessarily rude to Ted while very cordial to the players. There’s really no explanation for that.

I mean from her POV within 30 seconds of meeting, ted does 3 things that put her off. the you dont need to stand - he stands and does a dance, then the chat about yips being superstition, and calls her doc. none of which she appreciated. She was not really even rude at this point while Ted is broadcasting he thinks she is essentially dabbling in superstition, while she is a well respected professional in that field.

She got 'rude' when starting to meet with rojas and Ted overstepped trying to participate instead of letting her work. Ted was being rude for not trusting her expertise. Ted was acting like someone going to the doctor but declining medicine because he has essential oils. Your perspective is like someone who thinks the doctor is rude for not entertaining essential oils when there is good medicine.

You might not see a reason but imo she is also fixing ted's perspective along with the players.

pretty much from jump street. Not sure insulting someone by saying, "are you good at your job? trust me im twice as good at mine" is anywhere in How to Win Friends and Influence People.

And the writers arent being subtle with her either. She speaks at least 3 languages and apparently can cure David Toms type yips in one session when in reality stuff that serious takes months of therapy.

And yet she's a dick to the boss. Not sure what they are doing with her. She's off to a rocky start if nothing else.

Loved the ep all the same. Poor Roy on that double date!

Roy: Who do you support?
Wanker: united or city, based on who's winning
Roy: Of course. Can i get another?

For the uninitiated, thats like saying I support The Red Sox or Yankees or Duke or Carolina or Texas or aTm based on who is doing better at the time. Perfect way to paint the guy as an absolute tool.

And we got a PTA reference! Magnolia FTW!

The dog part was ridiculous, but otherwise good episode. Roy is the goat and I liked the nod to Maradona with the credits song.

My thoughts:

I absolutely LOVED season 1 and had high hopes for season 2 premiere. I thought that this episode was good but fell flat of my expectations. It seemed like they tried to force way too many "Ted-isms" into the dialogue to the point where they sort of lost their effect. I can't remember which scene, but at one point it was like the whole conversation was a set of quips that were obviously placed there to get quick laughs. I think using those more sparingly would be wise. I don't know, I just felt like this episode was clunky. Roy Kent nailed his role, per usual.

that was after she was disrespected by ted. he came off too informal lacking respect with 'doc' and by disrespected her expertise by calling real problems she fixes a superstition. besides I wouldn't even consider that to be an insult. its just saying you be the coach let me fix the psych issue. then ted still tried to tinker/get involved in the psych meetings. I don't believe you would find backseat drivering anywhere in How to Win Friends and Influence People either.

meh in other countries people commonly speak more than 1 language especially after going thru doctoral level education. Also she works with multinational sports teams I don't find it surprising/unexpected that someone who is the best of the best in that field to be multilingual. I assume its more meant as a point of humor that she can connect with players on a different level that even the very personable ted cannot. you may have a point with the 1 day cure of the yips but its tv and we dont need to have 1 player with the yips for an entire season.

That’s a normal and expected way to address her. She came off as pretentious and thin skinned by being offended and correcting him.

maybe in america its more acceptable to be more colloquial but a major factor in the show is ted dealing with different norms in a new country. She was introduced formally as doctor, so the normal and expected way to address her would be doctor. I don't believe ted has gotten to an informal level of relationship within 20 seconds of meeting.

She let the first doc slide and corrected him the second time to reinforce formality especially as this was after the weird/cartoonish nice to meet you dance and the reaction to saying the yips like a teenage female reacting to hearing the word moist. you might view it as pretentious but she probably wasn't entertained by the overfamiliarity when she came to get shite done

Which makes her pretentious. The whole interaction cast her in a very poor light, setting us up to dislike her. That juxtaposed with the unnaturally immediately success of the session was jarring. I will have to see where this goes before judging it too much. I expect the yips to return over the season.
