The fact that anyone thought this was a bad episode is silly.
I never said that

Sure but we’ve already seen how much of a good guy Roy is so even that conflict is very low level They need a villain to drive the plot forward or it’s going to start feeling like an after school special
I would t be surprised if Roy takes the Sky Sports gig and the producers want him to rip into Richmond’s form and Ted’s coaching. This leads to conflicts between him, Keely and the rest of his friends.

The office didn’t have a villain. Parks and Rec didn’t have a villain. 30 Rock didn’t have a villain. Modern comedies don’t need villains to be compelling, they just need to have conflict. And there is still ample opportunity for conflict between positive actors in this show for it to continue being great.

That was bad 80s sitcom weak. No edge, mundane and obvious jokes, no soccer and zero character development. The Danny Rojas complex about killing the dog gag was flat before it had a chance to breathe.
Season one had a plot and character development. This was pretty much a bad SNL skit. I hope they get better, because this was a massive step down from Season 1.

Yes. I don't really understand putting a character completely devoid of fun into the show.

I mean you need some level of groundedness for a show to work. You can’t have everyone hitting zany one liners unless you want to make an episode of Big Bang Theory.

I don’t think she’s going to be a bad guy but the conflict is that Ted realizes he doesn’t always have all the answers for the mental side of the game, which is his specialty, and he has to let go of that part.
In turn he may have to be more of a hard arse to break them out of their funk and get results.
If we’re talking about spoilers, one of the trailers shows them playing in Wembley so the assumption is they’re playing for promotion in the playoff.

Yeah they aren’t going to put therapy in a negative context. If anything, Ted Lasso will be the “bad guy” in these plot lines

Uhhhh “you just got Jammed!”. But I agree I don’t see why people are being so hard on the first episode, so many directions the season can go.

There's a large gap between being quippy and being a cold character. She wasn't likable in this episode. That doesn't mean I need her to be another Ted. We'll see how they develop her character going forward.

She’s unlikable because she’s seen as an intruder on Ted’s turf on the mental side, it was intentional. Ultimately they’ll get on the same page because they’re working toward the same goal.

Liked it but the dog storyline was stupid and the one liners, come on
Nobody talks like that. Please don’t turn this into an Aaron Sorkin show.
Anyone else think the owner is kind of hot? She has a great body

She's only unlikable to Ted. The team seems to love her.

Get ready — the psych, black chick is going to be Ted’s love interest. Totally going PC.

the doc is a professional psychologist where ted is an amateur

If they were going "totally" PC then the psych would be Rebecca's new love interest

She’s unnecessarily rude to Ted while very cordial to the players. There’s really no explanation for that.
Posted on 7/26/21 at 11:34 am to ell_13
I mean, Ted's feelings about therapy were pretty well made during the episode...chances that got around to her and so she's a little standoffish?
Posted on 7/26/21 at 1:20 pm to Leonard
That doesn’t seem likely or a natural reason for her to be a dick to him and no one else.
