Episode 1 is out! I’m about to watch. Season 1 was maybe the best season 1 of TV all time.

Are they just releasing one episode each week? My free subscription ends at the end of august.

I thought they were going to release three episodes then 1 each week thereafter?

Looks like one episode a week from the beginning.

Honestly thought that was the worst episode of Ted Lasso. Season 2 in general had great reviews though.

Aww man I just got the notification on my phone, didn’t realize it was just the first episode on there.

I agree with you. They had to kind of hard reset the characters, since they all evolved and learned so much by the end of S1. I’m not hitting the panic button yet. I do hope it gets stronger though.

The entire premise of that episode (the mascot running onto the field to its death) was ridiculous.
Ted's emotional press conference response to a dog dying felt so forced also. Almost like Bill Lawrence knows everyone who watched season 1 has been telling their friends how emotionally enriching Ted Lasso as a character is so he had to fit that diatribe into the first episode of season 2 since it's so much more anticipated than season 1.

I literally said “That’s so dumb” out loud as it happened. They were trying to show that Richmond’s been unlucky, but that was just stupidly dumb. Just have the shot bounce off both posts and miss.

Felt like a mediocre impression of a Ted Lasso ep

I think the jokes were still sharp (though a couple spoiled by trailers) but I worry about there not being enough tension in the show
The first half of this episode is so hunky dory and everyone loves everyone and there’s just nothing there to do.
They do a bit with the psychiatric chick but that still doesn’t feel like enough to keep you invested

My first thought was of Randy Johnson killing the bird with one pitch.

I think people are being a little too critical here. The episode felt like a continuation to me and not a reset. Of course there is less tension because of how last season ended. It’ll come. Do we know if Rupert is back? The Roy scenes were by far the best. The psychiatrist was a cuunt for no reason. Her character pissed me off a little.

I suspect Roy will end up being hired as a coach and there will be a lot of clashing personality between him and Ted as they try to figure out how to lead the team together. The new Dutch guy may also be primed for a bigger role in generating conflict if his honesty schtick starts becoming too much for the other, more downtrodden players to bears. Then there’s still the sports psychologist who seems likely to continue playing a role. Could go a lot of directions with that one; anything from Ted needing to fix the bad mentalities she installs into the players to Ted needing to accept giving away some control over his club to her could make sense in the story. And of course there’s always the looming question of what happens if Richmond doesn’t challenge for promotion, which season 1 set up as the clear expectation for the club.
So I’m not worried about season 2 at all at this point. They’ve got plenty of potential tension available to mine this season.

Broke down & got Apple tv last night. On S1 E5. Great show so far, those biscuits! Lol. Keeley is so damn cute.

Sure but we’ve already seen how much of a good guy Roy is so even that conflict is very low level
They need a villain to drive the plot forward or it’s going to start feeling like an after school special

The fact that anyone thought this was a bad episode is silly. There are plenty of villainous options, from Jamie to contention with Roy if he gets hired on to Rebecca’s probable new beau to her ex husband to the therapist. Doubting Bill Lawrence at this point seems foolhardy.

I agree people are being way harsh on the season premiere. I think this episode definitely existed to primarily pit Ted vs the psychiatrist
Also, obviously they teased Roy’s retirement PC. Hoping we get to watch it at some point.
