I don't think so, either. I know as a certified fact he's going to insert his politics in it.

Silmarillion, Children of Húrin… I’m listening.

This?

Zero interest.

The synopsis: "Fourteen years after the passing of Frodo - Sam, Merry, and Pippin set out to retrace the first steps of their adventure. Meanwhile, Sam’s daughter, Elanor, has discovered a long-buried secret and is determined to uncover why the War of the Ring was very nearly lost before it even began."

He's a catholic who has made his obsession with Tolkein a key piece of his public persona. This will probably suck (if it ever actually comes to fruition, which is unlikely), but it isn't surprising.

I'm a HUGE Tolkien fan so to honor him I'm going to do something that he would absolutely despise.

The passing of Frodo? I assume they mean him leaving at the Grey Havens. Sam was a multiple time mayor of the Shire while raising a very large family. How the hell is he gonna find time to kiss off on a year long foot travel just to see the sites and leave Rosie at home with the kids?

This is so fricking stupid it bends the mind.

Have low expectations but I’d rather a complete fanboy be involved in a new lotr movie than some random Hollywood money grabber

This is the worst lord of the rings news I've seen, even worse than the rings of power.

There seems to be some confusion about the time period for this film. Because I've seen that it takes place 14 years after the end of Return of the King, yet takes place during Fellowship.

So I'm guessing Sam's daughter discovers the book that Bilbo, Frodo, and Sam wrote. She reads it, and that flashback to that time is what the movie will be about. I assume same actors with de-aging tech used.

i’m gonna say it, I dont want more LOTR movies.

I would be down for a Hobbit Miniseries. It is a very episodic novel

I would be down for more open world LOTR games where I as a player get to explore the world.

But I really think we’ve hit the LOTR books that lend themselves to movies and shows.

Fake conservative ‘comedian’ who has severe TDS is announced to a project no one asked for about utter nonsense involving things which never appeared in any of Tolkien’s works…

OK.

This is actually a really good test case for hierarchy of belief systems.

Dude is

A) a catholic
B) a Tolkien obsessed lifelong superfan
C) a woke loon

Seeing which of those belief structures wins out will be very illuminating though I have predictions.

So I just listened to the Jackson and Colbert interview. It just seems that it's going to be basically Fellowship 1.5. Just covering a few chapters in The Fellowship. They have to do the other stuff or else everyone would be like "Why am i watching a movie that takes place in the middle of the Fellowship?"

I don't like it and it's clear that Jackson is just kind of in it for the money these days and not really concerned about anything with Tolkien's legacy, but I guess this technically could stay book accurate.

Just wish they would leave well enough alone.

Sounds fricking awful.

Let’s fill in some gaps of a masterpiece film that was made 25 years ago with actors who are now old as shite.

frick this and frick Colbert. Leave LOTR alone, it doesn’t need to turn into Star Wars.
