My immediate thought out of the theater was that I did, just because it was far more original. After thinking over some of the flaws though, I'm not so sure. There are some pretty big issues with the storytelling. I'll need to see it again to decide how it ranks among the other movies.

TFA was a much more consistent movie, but it was predictable. TLJ has its ups and downs but it keeps you on your toes. I really have no idea where the story goes from here, which is pretty exciting to me.

One thing that I can say with confidence is that the people saying that this ruined Star Wars for them are being overly-dramatic crybabies.

Big issues with storytelling?

The direction the plot goes itself or just too much plot? Too bogged down?

Kind of a combination of those depending on who you ask. I personally have no real problem with the direction of the plot. But there are plot holes and at times there is just too much going on.

It's a long movie. I think they could have cut out 20-30 minutes and smooth out the plot and we would get a much more complete movie.

Basically: the A plot (Ray, Luke, Kylo-Ren) is incredible, but really unexpected and thus controversial. I loved it.

The b plot with Finn and Rose smacks of being there just to give those characters something to do. It built the world, but was largely inconsequential otherwise.

See that's what I've been seeing the most of.

I can get behind that. It seems those who truly hated the movie hated the controversial parts of the A plot

That's how I see it too. That isn't necessarily a good thing or bad thing. Just means the B-plot makes the movie not great. The A-plot either redeems it for you or you hate the direction they go and don't like the movie.

Whereas I loved those things. All of the stuff with Luke’s attitudes towards the force in his arc. All of the twists in that story just work for me, but I can see why others may not enjoy them. It was a really bold take on an established character, in a franchise that has often been accused of painting by the numbers since Empire. If there is one thing this movie DOES NOT DO, it is stick to the old formula, but rather completely subvert it. Some will like that, some will hate it.

I thought it was a mistake from the get go to seemingly split up Finn and Poe.

I don't know how it works in the movie, but it might have worked a lot better if they had kept both of those characters together since they play off each other so well.

You are such a played out contrarian troll. This movie isn’t perfect, but that doesn’t make it shite either. Just because it’s not a perctly predictable campy fairy tale like A New Hope or TFA, just because it has some weird, but cool visuals, and takes a whole new approach to what have become stale cliche tropes, does not make it shite. You contrarian trolls are all alike. I hope you get suspended or take a brief sojurn in ban land for invading literally every thread (including the sunshine pumper thread) just to spew your crap.

Let’s be honest, you hate this movie because of your hubris. You have to shite on anyone who disagrees because of your hubris, and this movie is all about how hubris can get you killed.

I just want to know. Are there homos in this one? I have a bet with my brother that this one would have homos in it.

I mean outward or even implied homos. I can probably weasel out of it by asserting "implied homos."

no but it's like the wizard of oz sequel with james franco where they're going out of their way to highlight the diversity...it's not terribly distracting but noticeable. all the bad guys are white

from what i know of you, i think you're going to hate it.

that dude we thought was a troll

he was 100% right...a lot of people will hate the new ideas, but even if you like the new ideas (i did) the movie is suuuuper bad

the scenes with driver and ridley are really good. it will either save the movie for you or make it even more disappointing. tough to say

No, it really is that bad

Its obvious they are trying to turn the franchise away from the Skywalkers. And they killed it instead

I don't think I've ever seen a movie get 90% and above on RT

And then have a negative audience score.
