#Andor?is NOT what I expected. It's a mix of STAR WARS UNDERWORLD and LORD OF THE FLIES, an odd pairing that works. Diego Luna, Adria Arjona, Fiona Shaw and Stellan Skarsgård give standout performances. It's action-packed, yet a slow burn and I can't wait to see how it ends.

I’ve seen the first 3 eps of #Andor and I say this with the utmost conviction: this is going to be the show that gets me back into Star Wars. ANDOR introduces new, memorable characters, plus an intriguing arc for Andor. And it actually has something to say!

Ep 3 is spectacular.

Here’s me: I’ve been disenchanted with Star Wars for years. Every film/TV show after LAST JEDI felt like this franchise isn’t for me anymore - more interested in replaying its greatest hits forever (often w/ghoulish CG) rather than forging any new territory.

#Andor changes that.

#Andor?is unlike any @starwars story that we've ever seen before. @diegoluna_ is at the center of a stunning & dangerous world in turmoil. It's gritty, mature, and the most intelligent and well-informed story we've had to date. Tony Gilroy is a genius.

Now that the #Andor social embargo IS lifted, I can say that it's easily the most cinematic of the Star Wars shows so far. The first three episodes should've been presented as one 90-minute episode. The breaks between are very random - but it's a great episode!

The acting is top-notch, the cinematography is beautiful, lots of shooting on location, a great score from Nicholas Britell (!), and some solid writing thus far. There's so much ground left to cover but I'm hooked thus far. Much more when the review embargo drops next week!

I'm happy to say that #Andor is friggin' AWESOME! The first live-action #StarWars show to rival The Mandalorian but it's soooooooo different. Driven by mood, atmosphere, & character - feels more akin to a dark Ridley Scott Sci-Fi joint. LOVED the first few episodes!

quote:

@JordanMaison

#StarWars #Andor is very, VERY, good. The production quality and acting is off the charts. Feels like a "prestige" drama within the galaxy far, far away. Definitely the most "adult" Star Wars story so far, with more subtle world-building & slower burn story. It rules. Hard.

@GermainLussier

I've seen 4 episodes of #Andor and it's very different from the rest of modern Star Wars, for better & worse.

The first 2 episodes didn't grab me: Too matter of fact, too low stakes. But 3-4 paid them off incredibly well. Now, I'm all in, but it takes time to sink in its hooks.

quote:

@ErikDavis

I've watched 4 episodes of #Andor & I'm loving its more simple ground-level approach. It's different from the other shows, less humor. Plays like a crime drama more than a space opera. I dug how it highlights low-level Empire leaders as it reveals a rebel alliance slowly forming

quote:

@JeffDLowe

Oh man, #Andor is just plain awesome. Tons of depth, a slow burn crime and spy thriller that both feel very Star Wars, but also nothing like we’ve been given before. Like a premium cable drama in terms of tone and storytelling. I love it.

quote:

@AustinBurke

I can happily report that #Andor is delivering on everything fans should expect from a grounded Star Wars story (so far). It feels focused on character growth, and the tone is darker than some may expect. Diego Luna crushes, and the series immediately hooks you… Excellent start!

quote:

@TheEricGoldman

I love the vibe and notably more adult feel (for Star Wars) that Andor offers. Adds really strong character beats and intricacies to the world. First two episodes do annoy by feeling formless in that early Netflix “who needs episode structure?” way but that improves in ep 3 and 4

quote:

TheDirect.com

#Andor is the biggest departure from the #StarWars formula yet and it thrives for it! It's a dark and mature story of the start of the Rebellion - one that may not appeal to all fans. The scope and practical visuals are immense, perhaps the best-looking Disney+ original yet!

quote:

@BrandonDavisBD

#Andor didn’t exactly hook me. The first scenes are really cool but I found myself waiting a while to be really interested again.

Diego Luna and Adria Arjona are really good. By the end of Episode 3, it gets pretty tense and there’s some interesting (spoiler-y) stories laid out.

I’ve got no fricks left to give about Star Wars. This could be the best tv show of all time and I’d still have no interest.

It will be entertaining for people who enjoy being immersed in the Star Wars universe but aren’t worried about canon, and will trigger “die hards” because of actor choices and and some perceived social justice messaging.

By now, it’s not too hard to figure out how it will play out

I actually appreciate them.

Production Executive: How do we make sure we get some money back out of this shite product? It's boring as hell?

Marketing Guy: No worries bro. I've got my top-notch team getting the word out to our critic crew. This is going out as a "slow burn".

Production Executive: Ok, but how do we pull in a bunch of suckers, I mean, viewers that have been put off by previous product because it has also been shite?

Marketing Guy: Bro, bro, bro... my critics team is all about that. We'll have hundreds of critics that "were really done with Star Wars, but Andor sucked me back in." It'll work bro. I promise. It's been working perfectly ever since The Last Jedi came out.

Seems like they got an extra $500 if they included this specific phrase.

Is anything more useless than these “first reactions” Disney et al. buy these days? Why would anyone put any stock into any of these?

Couldn't be less interested. Star wars is pretty much dead. It was killed by nihilistic zealotry.

How many of those reviews are from bots rather than real people?

This one quote right here is almost enough to turn me off this show without ever having seen it. I have zero interest in anything that anyone in Hollywood (and especially Disney) considers "socially relevant."

These reviews really don't paint this in a good light.

#Andor changes that.

That is a horrendous take that does not bode well for Andor. The most recent Star Wars anything this person enjoyed was TLJ...and Andor is the next thing? This is like begging people not to watch.

30 minutes episodes? Even the premiere is 30 minutes?

This is what worries me

I'm also glad they spent no money and shite on two of the most famous characters in the history of film (Vader and Kenobi), yet Andor looks like it took all of the money to make

I doubt Jeff Lowe is bought and paid for.

The buzz surrounding this one is that it is very high level drama.
