The parade scene while awesome didn’t make much sense, why the hell was this massive parade going on during the middle of the day on a school day? Also why were there so many people? Shouldn’t they be at work or school or did they all just fake being sick like Ferris?

Always thought the same. With a parade like that, it would be a holiday celebration and everyone would be off work and out of school.

Not necessarily. Could be Columbus Day parade. Kids go to school on that day up here and there are parades

Yes, the timeline doesn't make sense because the parade is held on the weekend:

But it made for a great iconic scene.

What bothered me was how much he crammed in during school hours. Broke Sloan out of school, talked Cam into taking his dad's car, fancy lunch, Cubs game, a parade, etc and was back in bed around 3.

Cubs game

I always assumed they just went for an inning or two.

Baseball games are like 4 hours long.

As for the parade and loads of people, well look at all the people at the baseball game, and those are IRL packed with people during the week at daytime at Wrigley (no lights back then) no night games.

Plus you could see tons of office workers going outside for the parade because it was at lunchtime.

Perhaps it was a championship parade for the Bulls or Black Hawks winning the title. That would have happened on a weekday during baseball season. And schools would not be cancelled but some kids would be pulled out by parents.

Ferris could have been on the first float before the players floats…and all the spectators forgot their team gear.

Oh, definitely. They still crammed a lot of stuff into one day, though.

Even if the parade scene doesn’t make sense, it my favorite part of the movie.

Maybe for a St Pattys day parade on the actual day

Boston has Patriots Day which is always on a Monday and the whole city shuts down

New Orleans has Mardi Gras on a Tues and the whole city shuts down

It’s because the whole movie is taking place in Cameron’s head……

There is some odd huge random parade in Chicago. I forgot the name but it's huge and random. Celebrates some local civil rights leader i think.

The worst part was, that Ferrari would have TOTALLY rolled back it's miles if it were a real Ferrari with a gear driven odometer.

They would not have a parade going on the same day, same time as a Cubs game. It would be a nightmare with security, patrols, traffic. It did not make sense.

The Chicago parade was in the 1986 John Hughes movie Ferris Bueller's Day Off, even though other movie details indicate that the film takes place near the end of the school year, not in September or on a Saturday.

All true obviously, except for the 3 o'clock thing. It's actually closer to 6 if I'm not mistaken. You're talking about after both parents get off work and drive home. The timeline makes no sense because Rooney then gets picked up by the bus at the end, but I'm almost certain they show a clock at some point and you can see it's way after school.

ETA: Yup, 6 o'clock. I've seen this movie a million trilion times so I knew that sounded wrong. He checks Sloane's watch and it's 5 to 6.

Does running it in reverse actually decrease the odometer?

It's just a movie! It's not meant to be real! Why bother even starting this thread??
