Underlying the whole movie was that great score, which was ominous as hell. I can hear it now.

Easily one of my favorites.
While I am %100 in agreement and absolutely love Sicario, I just watched Hell or High Water for about the 20th time and I am not sure if it isn’t the best that Sheridan has done.

If anyone asks for a movie recommendation and they haven’t seen Sicario, it’s a go to. Absolutely fantastic. I love Villeneuve‘a sci fi films. But I really hope after Dune he gets back to making more stuff like this.

The picture and the jargon make the movie feel so realistic. Blunt reminded me of the former 2nd lieutenant’s straight out of officer school who think they know what the military, but come to a fast realization

Obviously I agree this is DV's best film.
It is also one of the best films Deakins ever shot and that's saying something.
(And it is peak Taylor Sheridan... #Fightme)

Day of the Soldado just started on Starz Encore. Tuning in for probably my 10th rewatch.

I like the first one better.
The good guys really kick the shite out of the bad guys the whole movie, which makes it enjoyable. There is no moment of no hope when the hero finds their 2nd wind and conquers all. Its CIA and briefly delta absolutely skull fricking some drug runners. It isnt really fair, and it is awesome.

It's a great movie. I love the scene of them driving into Juarez

I absolutely love the tension of them leaving Juarez, especially when they’re stopped at the border

I love how the main character (Kate) just spirals downward the whole movie. Its dark, but its different, and it makes for a good movie.

Yeah it’s good too but not in the same category at all for me.
Brolin and Benicio are just amazing.
Brolin has really come into his own over the last 20 years after No Country.

Sicario is currently on HBO Max.

If I was a college film professor and I was teaching a class on cinematography, I’d show this on day 1 and say, “this is your goal”.

I wouldn't say she was an annoyance. She was not used to no holds barred combat.

I finally watched it the other day.
I had seen clips all over YouTube for years. Was nice to fill in the few blanks the clips left and put order to the scenes.

Out of fear of sounding sexist here, it wasn’t very surprising that a woman might change her mind halfway through the process of something. lol
So basically holds firm on all situations throughout the whole movie.

She was annoying, but intentionally so, and that is made clear when you find out that she was just a pawn.
I’ve made the argument and been argued against that Kate was a super capable female operator just working in a world of wolves and killers and found herself way over her head.
I like that they didn’t boss babe her despite her failures and she recognized that she had been used and accepted it.
Almost perfectly shot movie.
Agree with the statement that if I were teaching a film class I’d have them watch that and say there is your standard.
