Sheridan gets hell for a lot (mainly TV) but his writing for movies is batting near 1000.

Those Who Wish Me Dead is his worst effort and it’s not awful.

Kate was a super capable female operator just working in a world of wolves and killers and found herself way over her head.

Absolutely.

She was on a tunnel raid with a delta and SAC team. The best go in and kill everybody team on earth. She was a box being checked so CIA could "legally" run ops inside the US. Its not like she was a sniveling little estrogen bag. She raided a tunnel with Delta/SAC, punched a SAC guy in the face after being shot in the vest, killed a few people, got shot at a few times, etc.

She was a cop dropped into the middle of the US government taking the gloves off. They didnt want the black guy because he was a lawyer with combat experience, and they didnt need anyone to actually operate, especially someone who would be asking lots of questions. They had the best trigger pullers on earth already. They needed someone with the right credentials who would be willing to keep their mouth shut in the name of fricking up some cartel king pins.

Its such a damn good movie.

We seem to get a thread about how great Sicario is every few months and I'm fine with that. Top 3 favorite movie all time for me. I'm always surprised how many people I know that have never seen it.

100%. You could say the same for writing, directing, editing, sound, etc. It's one of the few perfect movies out there.

I love how Benicio likens finding the cartel kingpin to discovering a vaccine.

The oversight was how she would handle it all in the end.

I would have figured they would better understand personality types before asking them to be involved in missions or assignments with questionable interactions then ask her to sign off on it.

The bottom line is the movie was so believable that’s she left me to be highly irritated with her.

I got the impression that they miscalculated her a little. I think they expected her to play along in the name of actually doing real damage to the cartel. If she had, she probably wouldnt have been so strained and broken. I think they expected her to ignore her moral compass.

The didnt want the black guy because they thought he would definitely not go along with it, and maybe she would.
