I can still sit through Phantom and Revenge. Clones is too excruciating, but not as much as the entire sequel trilogy.

So, prequels.

The aim of the prequels were to tell a story and sell toys. While the story was poorly execute at times, it tracked well with Star Wars OT.

The aim of the sequels was "Yeah, but are we being woke enough?"

Prequels by a mile

If not for all of the scene transitions, I would say the prequels.

This will be unpopular, but the treatment of Vader in the prequels was worse than anything in the sequels.

In the original trilogy, he's a legendary evil badass and potentially the best villain ever with a fascinating storyline.

In the prequels, he's a whiny sissy who spends movie time rolling around in a field of flowers and complaining about sand. His story arc builds to this:

Would anyone be down for a Grievous backstory movie? Based on this video I think it could be good:

How Grievous became a cyborg and his life before

Prequels for 2 reasons

1. They are not competing with the original trilogy and attempting to occupy the same space, so in that sense it didn't matter much whether they were great or not. It's a much more expansive story with many characters and things going on. The sequels were literally just trying to copy the original trilogy and failed miserably.

2. The prequels didn't frick up the star wars lore in any way. Some people will says midichlorians but it's completely ignoreable and doesn't affect anything.

Well...

The prequels are one good movie, one boring movie, and one god-awful terrible abortion of a movie.

The sequels are one good movie, one super bad movie, and one broken movie.

So...

Neither lived up to the hype.

I would say that the disservice done to Luke in the sequels is what tips the scales in favor of the prequels though.

Oh, and one more thing:

The prequels gave us The Clone Wars animated series, which is better than the prequels or sequels.

The prequels all day, every day.

The execution of the plot may have left a lot to be desired but the prequels still delivered a good story of how Palpatine usurped power and created the Imperial Galactic Empire, showed what really went down with Obi-Wan and Anakin and how he transformed into Darth Vader and how Luke and Leia were conceived.

Furthermore, it had a plot and characters that did not insult Star Wars and and the casual viewers like the sequels did.

The Last Jedi completely destroyed any potential for the sequels had after TFA and made sure The Rise of Skywalker could not fix it enough. The last Jedi shite on beloved characters and told the fanbase to go frick themselves.

Prequels > Sequels

The prequels is responsible for Clone Wars animated series which is absolutely amazing to watch with Anakin, Obi Wan being a great partnership fighting against Dooku, Greivous, and constantly foreshadowing the events of the OG trilogy like Yoda learning how to be a force ghost and contact Luke. And it introduced one hell of a fan favorite character in Ahsoka Tano or as Darth Maul rightly calls her, Lady Tano.

The clone wars series puts the prequels into a whole different light and makes the impact of Anakin's betrayal and turn to the dark side all that more upsetting.

The sequels will likely never give us a series that good, therefore Prequels > Sequels.

Is revenge really a good movie? It’s ok enough and re-watchable. But it’s maybe the biggest missed opportunity in film history. Anakins turn is so poorly done it’s hard to watch. And then whiny Vader shoes up.

I’m a few episodes into the Clone Wars now and it’s so far so good. My only complaint is how meh the animation looks but it is over a decade old and from what I understand, they did get a boost after a couple of seasons.

Grevious is the ultimate front runner though lol. Anytime the droids start to take a L this dude is like

I would rather watch two hours of the worst PT scenes tied together than see TLJ again. Does that answer your question?

Sequels. All three are actually good movies (albeit with problems). People who hate on the sequels are just insecure snowflakes who don’t like female leads.

I like the prequels (more than I admit publicly), but Phantom is absolute hot garbage (now this is pod-racing!). The only good parts are scenes with Darth Maul. Overall, though, the prequels get more hate than deserved. People who over-hate on the prequels also tend to ignore the problems in the originals because of their nostalgia goggles.

I actually like Rey. I think she's one of the few bright spots of the ST.

The prequels are FAR better movies. Both insult the audience but the sequels did it purposely so that's much worse.

The sequel trilogy is maybe the biggest frick up in the history of film. It started out okay with The Force Awakens but ran slap off the rails so far in The Last Jedi that there wasn't much that could be done to get it back on track in the third act.

Were there plans to bring back Sidious when the first film was made and make Rey related to him? Hard to believe that would have been the case.
