That is a shite list. No way I would agree with the majority of these rankings based off of the their rotten tomatoes score. I would rather have best war movies by accuracy as voted on by veterans.

Surprised Gettysburg didn't land in the 100-80 range.

Made me look up Gods and Generals and holy cow there are a bunch of butt hurt critics. Many saying it colors the confederates in too good of light. "makes Gone With the Wind look like a Northern polemic."

Yeah, but Glory was waaaaay up there, because of black soldiers and all. Truthfully it was a really good movie. However, that doesn't explain all the bullshite on the rest of the list. Most of those movies aren't even "war" movies. There just happens to be a war going on in the backstory of the movie. I would never base my opinion on if I want to see a movie or not on Rotten Tomatoes anyway. That's a good way to name your air craft carrier Boaty McBoatface

Last of the Mohicans

Braveheart

Both of these are criminally low. Should be top 10. Exceptional films!

Private Benjamin better than Black Hawk Down
I didn't see BAT 21 even listed.
If Private Benjamin was a top 100 war movie then so should Stripes.
Patton as low as 34 is just downright shameful.

Hurt locker doesn’t belong in the top 100 and they have it eighth. BHD in the 90’s. What dumbass Liberals put this list together?

No, the one on the Rotten Tomatoes list is the earlier Jack Benny and Carole Lombard version. It is a great movie, but hardly deserving of the #11 ranking.

I know. They really should have tried to limit this list to movies that don't suck, like Black Hawk Down.

Even taking into account the foreign films which skews the list

What's wrong with foreign films? Come and See, Grand Illusion, and Army of Shadows are among the greatest films ever made (even if AoS is another questionable entry in terms of genre). These and other foreign films skew the quality of the list away from American dreck like Hacksaw Ridge and War Horse.

I did not say that there was anything wrong with foreign films. I just said that they skew the list. And they do because most of them have not been seen by your average moviegoer. Just pointing out the obvious. And RT was just trying to be provocative with their list. Crap list is crap list.

They took all movies with a genre tag "war" and at least 20 reviews and ranked them by their ketchup score or whatever they call it. There's no subjectivity, or "provocation", whatsoever.

You’ve never heard of The Grand Illusion or The Battle of Algiers?

You are missing the point. People who work at RT have no idea what "war" is. So yeah, they are trying to be edgy with their list and in the end it is just crap. It has nothing to do with war. Not even in the most peripheral sense.
