True SJW in movies seems corny and pandering, like if they make a movie about historical Vikings and one is asian, one black, one Filipino etc.

However a lot of the outrage against perceived SJW is ridiculous.

Greek Mythology and medieval European folk tales have a number of non white characters. Because Hollywood has made movies for years omitting these characters ,when a new take is made re-adding them , some people swear its SJW when its not.

I'm not a true conservative, so maybe I don't count.

But political leanings don't really bother me at all. The way I see it, I have been disagreeing with people on things my entire life. Politics is no different. Hell, children movies always have a lesson or moral to the story at the end. Not only children's movies either. There have been plenty of times where I've thought the deeper meaning was stupid, or I didn't agree with what the director wanted to portray. I see that as no different than politics.

I don't really care if someone argues for free college or a socialistic government in a movie. I don't care if the movie is trying to portray all men as either stupid imbeciles, or low-down dirty dogs or what-not. As long as the movie is entertaining, I will watch it. I don't have to agree with the message of a movie just to enjoy it. As it is now most tv shows have atleast 1 gay person if not more. That doesnt even bother me anymore. I will say this, there's a slim chance of me watching a movie where the main protaganist is gay, simply cuz I don't care to see that (although if it's a female who's a lesbian, I am gladly watching).

The only type of programming that I likely could not stomach is one where they are actively glorifying abortion. Most times I have seen abortion dramatized on tv has featured the character possessing alot of guilt over what decision. Normally, they usually decide to keep the child, but in other instances where they go through with it and then immediately deal with depression and guilt following the experience. I think this is an accurate and realistic account of what most women go through regarding this. It works because it wasn't glorified, even though the act was done.

Everyone needs to be entertained sometimes. Right wingers too. Sometimes you have to drop the political tribe crap and just chill.

Why do you give a frick about the political "lean" of people in the entertainment industry? You are either entertained by the art, or you aren't. Politics doesn't have jack shite to do with whether something is entertaining.

The Ghostbusters outrage always perplexes me. Confused me even more after seeing the movie.

I watch tv/movies for the entertainment and can separate the actor’s politic leanings. Politics has a place, just like entertainment has a place, but I can keep them separate.

Some groups (sjw’s for example) can’t separate the two, and tend to lead miserable lives because they can’t enjoy things without interjecting politics into otherwise non-political events.

People like to write about and create what they believe and like, most Hollywood writers are left wingers. You are just gonna have to deal with it. Entertainment has been filled with propaganda since the dawn of time. Right wingers like to go in heavy with propaganda as well.

Not usually. Though politics has ruined SNL for me. I used to sit through it but it’s unbearable these days. Same with the late night talk shows. Used to enjoy them somewhat but now they are all political garbage, besides Conan maybe.

There's one thing that is never discussed in these threads.

Hollywood is an industry where the successful people make a ton of money; where a successful movie can bring in a billion dollars in revenue; and where creative accounting ensures that these successful movies never show a profit. Greedy bastards of every persuasion should be flocking to Hollywood to make their fortune, yet the industry is dominated by the socially left-leaning. So the question is, why are conservatives so bad at the creative arts? I assume there are conservatives making money behind the scenes (like Bannon with his Seinfeld money), but there's a lack of successful creative types becoming moguls.

Not me. I'm not a conservative (other than on issues like abortion), but it doesn't bother me.

The way I look at it, everything is slanted in some way. Early westerns were all about pure and innocent white settlers threatened by "bloodthirsty savages" Years later, Disney puts out Pocahontas which totally ignored that her dad was a conquering and, I think I've read, slave taking kinda guy.

No, I separate the art, from the artist. Also artist intent only last until the art is released, the the individual can decide any significance. Good art exist on many levels.

unless the whole movie is geared towards pushing some political message ...like that Denzel movie where he held the ER hostage ...then I don’t care.

John Q. Hated the message of that movie, but enjoyed it nonetheless. Slapaho tribe!

But no I don’t get my political beliefs from my entertainment because I’m not an low-iq, directionless mishap who needs validation from people who literally make their living pretending to be something they aren’t and most cases, can’t or won’t ever be.

I don't care about the politics of the people I see in movies.

Content and quality of the film is all that matters to me

Here's the issue... Most people are so deluded that they find some sort of lean in ANYTHING. Does it have a black character? Oh here we go reverse racism. Is there a gay character? Oh they're shoving gays down our throat. Is the film made by a black person and get good reviews? Oh it only got good reviews because he's black, I didn't like it.

People are curmudgeons.

Depends on the show. Most of the time, a leftist slant really ruins the story.
