MBJ has worked his tail off since being who I thought was great as Wallace in The Wire. He's grown a lot and has some real talent.

The opera and ballet thing kind of got to me - very douchey and out of touch. Immature anyway.

The artists seriously trained to do that are some of the most talented people on the planet - most professionals are absolutely incredible and born to perform - and without multiple takes.

And Friday Night Lights! His moment with Plemons last night was cool to see. Texas forever.

Sean Penn is a potato with no sense of humor and they've given that guy an Oscar on three separate occasions. That's the same amount of Oscars they've given Daniel Day-Lewis and Jack Nicholson.

That's incredible to think about. I guess he does that one facial expression better than anyone else can.

Agreed. I still went and saw him the last time he was in town and it was a great show. At no point in the show did I think about his political views.

You must not have been one of us who were told he'd rather us not come.

If the voters don’t like him then he must be doing the right thing. I’m a fan.

Boy, nice to know these awards have nothing to do with performances but who brown noses the voters enough. What a joke.

What does that have to do with his performance?

The Oscars stopped being about performance in the theatrical sense and became more about personal politics and social virtue signaling a good while back.

Maher pretty much nails it here:

To be fair he didn’t say opera and ballet is stupid or that people performing it aren’t very talented and dedicated. He said no one cares about it and those industries are begging for hangouts to keep the lights on…which is true.

The Grammys have been doing this for decades. Don’t give the award to the best artist. Sell the most records/downloads and win

After 10 years, that movement has finally produced a winner?

Chalamet was "off-putting", but Sean Penn wasn't.

Yeah fricking okay.

Agree. Just one problem, I don't think MBJ can act. In saying that, the dude is extremely likeable and a guy you root for. I'm actually glad he wonbover Chalamet, who seems to be a complete slimeball narcissist shite-heel. So he was basically just playing himself in Marty Supreme.
