This is a film you can’t get nitpicky about, kind of like the Dark Knight, because if you think about it too much it falls apart.
You can say that about any movie

This is how movies used to be. Such a good, awesome, fun movie without any of the Hollywood politics.
I told my son basically the same thing a few minutes ago. Fantastic movie.

Thoroughly enjoyed the movie
My only gripe was “talk to me goose”

I started laughing at a part in the movie when he said this. My imagination got to me.
Maverick on aircraft carrier, waiting for fighter jet elevator: "Talk to me goose"
a goose walks up: "quack..."

Was this pandering to the audience...yes. But I loved it.
It is not unrealistic to believe that Maverick thought about Goose when he had to make hard decisions or when he was going into battle. Plus he was with his son.
I absolutely loved all of the references to Goose. I teared up several times.
I was surprised at how emotional the movie was, from Ice to Goose multiple times I was very emotional.
The flight scenes were the incredible. Much better than the original.
The audience was super into it. We laughed, we gasped and lots of claps when it was over. Everyone was smiling as we walked out.
I couldn't sleep for hours after watching it. It was a rush and it felt so good to enjoy a movie.
I want to go back and watch it again.
The highlights were the American flag was everywhere. Loved that.
Maverick riding without a helmet on his motorcycle. Kids today can't even ride a freaking bike without head to toe protective gear.

I judge a movie for how it pulls off what it tries to do. If it’s trying to be a masterpiece, then I won’t let the film off for plot holes like say how would the Joker know there’d be a low flying helicopter going between two buildings on that exact same altitude. The Dark Knight is just trying to have fun and make a great villain.

Jennifer Connelly is great because her gaze says a thousand words. Her facial expressions are top notch and my lord shes hot.
I thought his card getting declined was bullshite to get him tossed out. Fully expected that to be a reveal later on.

As a huge fan of the original movie, I went watch it tonight. I gotta say I loved it. Great movie and the nostalgia was great

The ending was borderline Mission:Impossible type stuff.
It was a great movie and very entertaining...I did get a kick out of 2/2 safe ejects at +/- 500ft elevation and then "needing to climb" to eject at several thousand feet elevation over water.
Was disappoint we didn't get a need for speed quote...would have been great right before he kicked it up from 10.0 to 10.4 in the beginning.

How about a safe eject when your plane breaks up at Mach 10? Without some sort of escape capsule, Pieces of Maverick would have been scattered over 1000 square miles.
There’s an article about a dude who ejected at supersonic speeds - both arms were broken, one leg broken, all the blood vessels in his face burst.

This will be the first movie I’ll go to see in the theatre twice since I was in high school and you had to wait years for them to come out on VHS.

They really need to bring Archer out of retirement just to review Top Gun Maverick

I finally saw it tonight (last night), SO glad I was able to avoid spoilers! This one really lived up to the hype.
For those who say various nitpicks, I think we all get that it isn't meant to be hyper-analyzed, it isn't intended to be a deep and thoughtful drama. It's fricking Top Gun.
The most amazing thing about it, was that they were successfully able to replicate the original movie's viewer experience, with modern tech. I mean, look at how Star Wars now is just a shell of itself; no more magic.
added- so I typed that but never submitted, and it sent when I tapped my keyboard to wake the pc up.
After sleeping on it, it stands. The movie lived up to the hype, and was a worthy sequel in the same vein as the original. I saw it on a Dolby Atmos screen, and I think I will do so again before it comes down.
