I saw it Wednesday and loved it. I didn't know about val kilmer and it makes the scenes with ice that much more important.

Saw it Wednesday with a friend, then saw it again tonight with my son. Even on the second viewing, all of the same scenes hit me in the feels even though I knew they were coming. Great movie.

Do you really think they used no CGI in the making of this movie?

Practical where possible.
Pretty sure the Navy would have frowned on shooting actual SAMs at their aircraft.

Just got out of the theater. While the original was stylistic and innovative it lacked a substantive story. TG: Maverick had it all. Even though the mission was very similar to one executed in a galaxy far, far away, the action and tension was taut throughout and the characters were more fleshed out. And Jennifer Connolly is still smokin' hot. This movie deserves all the accolades it is receiving.
Watched the original last night with my kids, very pumped to show them coming fresh off my second viewing of Maverick. I really hate to admit this, bc nostalgia wants me to deny it, but I liked Maverick better.

Why even have a war scenario to make this movie a success, there's plenty of drama to work with by the nature of the job and the character history.
Because the obscene timing between movies requires a major crisis to pull Mav back in and have Goose’s son involved. Mav would have been pulled from flight status long ago if he wasn’t stashed away as a test pilot somewhere and Rooster is too old to be a Top Gun student so he needs to be a graduate.
Fully plausible that this was a Navy mission (carriers can respond faster than the Air Force in a crisis), however they kinda went a bit hand wavy on not using the F-35’s at all.

Just got out. That’s how you make a sequel. From the beginning to the end it was great!

Just saw it and it was great. However, the theatre started having A/C issues and it got miserably hot.

Nah, that was just the effect the movie had on you.

I loved the movie. My one criticism is the suspension of disbelief was tough after that Mach 10 ejection though. He would’ve likely been done as a pilot after that

Single missions are usually handled by an Air Force strike package from a regional base, sometimes with Navy cruise missles in conjunction. In war or conflict, carrier based missions are activated.

For several scenes. But it was an entertaining movie that had all the good old toxic masculinity and jingoism that drives progressives, liberals, alphabet people, and soft- palmed soy types insane. We Enjoyed it.

Me and the wife just saw it. Loved everything about the movie. Even their assault on the Death Star.
