The only way that line will still have any meaning at all is if in these last 3 episodes OB1 kicks Vader's arse.

Agreed. And while I’m sure such a fight would be awesome to watch and all, I don’t really want to see it from a story standpoint, especially since Kenobi is being very clearly portrayed as out of practice.

Unreal episode. Disney nailed Vader. The scene with him in the dark dragging civilians around with the force felt like a Horror movie.

It was a fun episode, but the nitpickers are gonna downvote you into oblivion because it didn't fit their very precise expectations.

I thank you for the downvotes I am about to receive, for they only make me stronger.

I hated the Last Jedi and episode 9 but come on, this episode (and hopefully the entire series) was a major success along with the Mandalorian/Book of Bobba Fett and Rogue one.

Ewan is doing a good job but for the most part the acting on this show is....pretty awful.

The jedi parkour sequence cracked me up though.

It wasn’t a bad episode and it was great to see peak Vader going through that village…but I do agree the Obi-Wan rescue was lame.

What's funny is that we could nitpick the originals and prequels too for all their inconsistencies but Star Wars fans would flip their shite

that wasn't peak Vader. that felt like Anikan dressed as Vader and not like Vader if that makes sense.

Which makes total sense since it's his first time seeing Kenobi since ROTS.

Uh, Star Wars fans have been doing that for 40+ years. Fans have been close to these characters for the majority of their entire lives. They are invested in the characters. So, rightfully or not, the invested fans are gonna be upset if the new portrayals of an old beloved character doesn't live up to their expectations.

The writers should understand that point. It's why SW fans hate Rian Johnson, bc he intentionally fricked with their preconceived ideas. Johnson chose to play with fire and got burned.

But I actually believe there is a way to pull off simultaneously subverting expectations and not pissing off the fans. You just have to write a good story. Tell us a good story and we can live with unfulfilled expectations. But if you tell us a shitty story with characters we know and love, you just end up pissing off the fans.

Then they shouldn't get irrationally angry if the shows, which are probably trying their best to fit the shitty canon Lucas himself left behind, aren't exactly following "canon" or are introducing other aspects we haven't seen before (Obi-Wan struggling with his faith in the Force)

Nobody is being irrational. They just don't like the show. And they really don't like being called names like racist bc they don't enjoy the show. There are parts of the show that are objectively bad cinematography. And the script is not something that can be held up and admired for anything. It's average at best. Are there any good lines in this thing? How many SW fans walked around saying "this is the way" after Mandalorian came out? All of them. This show just doesn't deliver. Shitty directing and worse writing. It's been obvious for 3 episodes now.

I don't think people realize the power of Star Wars when you hit. Do you know how much fricking baby Yoda merchandise they sold? People everywhere are still wearing that little fricker on everything from tattoos to keyrings. Is there anything close to that from this show?

Not to mention some of the acting in the OT which has inspired many a drinking game.

This is the part that I completely disagree with

Vader went through a near death experience, has to have a suit to live, and constant medical treatments to keep him even functioning. Yet he force drags people when they meet again

OBW, possibly the most pwerful Jedi to that point, simply went into hiding. Which is almost an ideal condition for a Jedi (see Yoda) to increase their abilities. But hes portrayed as a total buffoon. Which we know is incorrect. When Leia calls on him he has the ability to scare the sand people through sound manipulation, is adept at mind control of stormtroopers, senses the presence of Vader, and has learned to become more powerful in the next life. And this was after being in solitude almost another decade after this miniseries

Its simply a an attempt to weaken the male lead, and create some fantasy about female power. Completely ignoring that this female phenom gleefully serves a man in a suit, who in turn serves another man who is a Sith Lord

Its become comical at this point

Bro you’re overthinking it. I like the angle Disney took with his powers diminishing without use all of those years. He hasn’t wielded a lightsaber in a decade. He’s stunned that his best friend he thought he killed is alive.

The trajectory this thing is heading is he starts becoming more in tune with the force for the next time he meets Vader and we’ll have a duel on the level of Luke vs Vader in Empire Strikes Back or Return of the Jedi.

There are 4 episodes left and it's widely speculated that he'll become that Alec Guiness version of OBW after he connects with Qui-Gon. Let it play out.

Great quote from another board:

“You are missing the symbolism. The droid rescuing Kenobi reminded Vader of Palpatine and the droids that saved him. Anakin even torched Kenobi in a manner to make him feel the pain of his Mustafar burns: it all was deliberate, when Vader finally got his revenge, he felt pity, remembering his own pain.”

Some of the shots are just stupid. When he was chasing Leia, at one point she ran right beside him. He could have easily just extended his arm and grabbed her shoulder. Then when he had to knock out the power to the laser gate instead of just walking around the tower.

zero, and I mean zero percent change Vader (should) have been feeling pity in that moment.
