Seriously. I can't find another big Hollywood film from recent years other than the Patriot. John Adams was great, but that was a biographical drama miniseries. Such a big part of history and pop culture, and there's barely any films. A bunch of exploits would be great if adapted on film.

Watch Turn: Washington's Spies until the next movie comes out.

I'd rather HW make good Revolutionary War movies than put out more cliche over the top turds like The Patriot.

One of my top 5-10 favorite movies of all time.

Love that movie.

and like another poster said. Very different, but Turn: Washington's Spies is a very good series on Netflix.

You're asking why Hollywood who hates America, aren't doing more movies about why America kicks arse?

Why won’t HW, which on the whole hates white males, not make movies about white males establishing a country in a way they completely are in opposition to?

I’m sure there are scripts that tell the stories of how female slaves were actually the ones on the battlefield and writing the Declaration of Independence. Give them time.

It’s in my top 10 for sure. It has a lot of stupid stuff in it and stupid characters and some horrible dialogue in some places; but I’ve loved it since I was a kid and it just looks amazing visually, especially in the battle scenes. And I just love Colonel Tavington as a villain.

There are quite a few pertinent and interesting stories that have gone largely ignored because they portray our founding fathers in a bad light.
For that very reason I feel like Hollywood would green light some of them.
Then the question becomes are the American people ready to have the humanity and integrity of their revered founders called in to question.

The only Revolutionary War movie I've ever liked was 1776. Mr. Feeny was incredible as John Adams.

That is a good watch. I caught their marathon on one of our patriotic holidays. It's kind of a "Establishment learns from Scoundrels" tale.

I do watch History Buffs and like him a lot. And his complaints are valid, but I still love the film.

As much as I wanted to like The Patriot, it’s just not good. It is too cliched, over the top, and just silly.

The John Adams series that HBO did with Paul Giamatti is my favorite thing on the revolution.

The Patriot was a good, rousing (just not very accurate) portrayal. My BA in History puts me at odds with it at times. Same for Amadeus. Both are extremely entertaining . . . just maddening.

I found John Adams much better, and much more thought-provoking.

I need to watch Washington’s Spies and Sons of Liberty.

They could make an accurate movie about the Revolution in South Carolina, and it would be just as violent and "uncivilized" as The Patriot.

I’m fine with more Revolutionary War movies but they absolutely do NOT need to be like The Patriot
