I watched this on a whim at 8AM one day when I was home sick from work. I cried until lunchtime.

Yeah, a lot of Japanese movies devastate you emotionally which makes it ideal for one-time viewings. It either won’t have the same affect or kill you emotionally again on repeat viewings. Felt that way about Millennium Actress and Sansho The Bailiff. Both movies were great but have no desire of ever watching those movies again.

The Passion of the Christ.

Everyone should see it, but no one should see it twice.

Im surely in the minority here, but Im not a fan of rewatching most movies. If it’s on cable and im strolling through, sure ill watch something ive seen. As far as going to a streaming service and picking something to rewatch would probably not happen.

(Of course there are awesome movies ive seen many, many times).

Wouldn’t say I loved it, but United 93 was riveting. Will never watch again.

United 93 - refuse to watch it a first time.
Old Yeller - yep
Where the Red Fern Grows - yep
Marley and Me - refuse to watch it a first time.

Hell, as I get older I can't even hardly watch nature shows anymore. At first I'm pulling for the wolf because she's hungry and needs to feed her pups. Then, I'm pulling for the caribou because he's fighting for his life.

I end up just changing the channels because I'm becoming a pussy in my old age.

So sad. So depressing. Beautiful movie though.

Dunkirk and 1917 were great experiences in the theater but I doubt I ever watch either again

Thought this too, but I've watched Dunkirk probably 10 times since release (after saying I have no interest in watching it again).

I think it's partly the score and several scenes I really like. I don't think that'll happen with 1917. I'm sure I'll watch it again, but it doesn't have a lot of rewatch value for me.

The scene in Ryan where the German soldier is slowly driving the knife into Mellish's chest as he begs him not to do it, is more than I can bear.

We all have our most upsetting movie scene, that one's mine. I don't ever want to watch it again.

obligatory Requiem For A Dream mention

Yeah, it was a great movie but I'd rather not watch the horrific downward spiral the characters go through again. I'll add on Schindler's List to the "loved it, never need to see it again" group.
