I feel like WWZ is a perfect book for a Netflix series, they could do it like Love, Death, Robots and have a different director for each chapter but with the interviewer tying it all together. Could be amazing.

Ready Player One.

Strayed pretty far from the book. They had some things right, but I think every single hunt for each key was different in the book.

On the Starship Troopers, I don't hate the movie and recognize it for what it is. I think they should have just stuck with "Bug Hunt at Outpost 7".

I, Robot

The Fleming novel Moonraker is nothing like the movie. Several Bond movies stray pretty far, but that one is the most different.

And although I haven't read it, I've head Who Framed Roger Rabbit is not very much like the movie.

Those Who Wish Me Dead. It was about the boy hiding from murderers and they turned it into an Anna Jolie movie

The Natural (for the ending).

Ready Player One - it would have been too hard and they probably couldn't get the rights to every little thing.

I wasn't aware that The Wheel of Time was a movie.

The Corpse Danced at Midnight was Jessica’s debut novel. In S1/E3 ("Hooray for Homicide"), she travels to Hollywood to confront producers turning her mystery into a cheap sex and gore horror film. When the primary producer ends up dead, Jessica falls under suspicion as a possible suspect. It’s described as “a combination of Halloween, Porky’s, and Flashdance.” I’m considering raising funds to have someone make the movie since production was shutdown in 1984

Jessica has a great line.

Police Lieutenant: Would you like a cup of coffee?

JBF: No, I don’t want a cup of coffee; I want justice!

Most of the Asimov adaptations have strayed from the source material.

Foundation, the TV show, does it the most.

As with Blade Runner, Total Recall...didnt completely disregard the Dick's short story, but it did for the most part.....and for the better imo.

World War Z

You nailed it in the first post. The book was awesome. The movie used basically none of it or even the style of it.

The Sum of all Fears was worse. They turned Ryan into a kid, little better than a CIA intern, and then just completely changed the cast of villains from Arab terrorists to White neo-nazis. As someone else put it, this is what happens when Hollywood writers get their hands on book adaptations from authors that they hate.
Nothing to do w/writers

The villains were changed to whites at the insistence of the Arabs who put up the production money

Half of the money in Hollywood comes from the Arabs or Chinese

Patriot Games movie was very different from the book, esoecially the ending. The book had Prince Charles on the boat with Ryan and several other people chasing the Irish terrorist. And the Irish terrorist were arrested, not killed off like in the movie.

The Revenant.
Not sure how many of you have read the book, but the ending was especially different in the movie. Great movie, by the way.

Those changes were inconsequential compared to the changes to Without Remorse.
