Dining recs for solo Vegas trip?

Posted by borrelia on 4/21/25 at 3:02 pm
Will be by myself in Vegas for a conference next week. Would appreciate some recs on good places to eat at dinner. Will be on an expense account so can’t break the bank but anything under $60-70 entree would be ok. Open to any kind of food, not picky at all.

Staying at the Venetian but willing to walk/Uber if needed.

Haven’t talked to her but have been in touch with her spouse. Will be in Seattle starting Thursday.

F-5BD- a flight at Great Notion. Spending the week traveling and drinking our way through the PNW.
Agree with all the brewery suggestions. Would also add that Belleflower is fantastic. It’s fairly new but went by there last spring and was really impressed.

1701 BBQ in Beaumont is great as well. Stop there every time I’m in town for work. The brisket boudin is solid.

Starter Villain

This book came out last year so I searched but didn’t see a topic. The premise is a regular guy finds out when his rich uncle dies that rather than being in some boring business he’s actually a supervillain. He leaves his criminal empire to this nephew he barely knows. This leads to a lot of confusion and humor. There are a lot of twists and turns along the way. I really enjoyed it, was a quick read at around 230 pages.

I also noticed that it’s already in the process of being adapted to a movie which makes a lot of sense. It’s the same author as Kaiju Preservation Society as well which is another solid book.

Flying home from LGA today and got here super early just in case. I usually arrive early but got here about 2 1/2 hours early just in case.

It’s a ghost town. No one in front of me at bag drop and 1 person at Precheck. Oh well. Plenty of time to feed the kids and get settled at the gate.

FBD from the Other Half taproom at Rockefeller Center is a Plates on Plates TIPA. Can’t taste the 10% at all. Dangerous.

Thankful for no more election calls/texts.

I didn’t even know this was available

I think it was included as an option with one of the recent campaigns. I’ve bought so much stuff from there recently I can’t remember which one. I haven’t received the hard copy yet but I have the E book.
Has anyone else read Dragonsteel Prime yet? Got my digital copy a couple of weeks ago and read through it this weekend. I really enjoyed it, was cool to see some things that eventually made it over to the Stormlight series.

Other than the obvious (Wit) would be curious which other characters end up in the Cosmere. There’s at least one other that’s a bit spoilery.

Agree, I think the other big one that he is waiting on is Tennessee if Barnes decides to retire. With he and his wife being from there plus being back in the SEC I think that would his ideal scenario.
