That scene from Salem’s lot freaked me out big time

Read the book when I was 14 or 15 and it had just come out in paperback. I couldn't sleep because I thought vampires were knocking at my window.

Midnight Express in 1978. I could barely watch it. I was 16 and the torture scenes were just more than I could take then. I spent much of the movie turned around in my seat with my boyfriend (future husband) or out in the lobby/restroom.

“ The slow knife in the chest towards the end of Saving Private Ryan. I was only 11 or 12 when I saw it. First time I remember crying watching a movie. It still rattles me.”

———————————————-

This was tough because I was waiting for an American Soldier to save him, but it’s not that kind of movie.

Pretty mild compared to some of the other stuff mentioned here

I haven't watched Saving Private Ryan in years specifically because of the slow knife scene. Hearing the American soldier plead for his life when he knows he is beaten is too much for me.

The final scene in David Cronenberg's classic The Brood. Saw this movie at a drive-in as a teenager and found it rather disturbing.

Gummo, the mom feeding the kid spaghetti in the bathtub while washing his hair.

Kids, when Casper gives AIDS to the passed out girl that he rapes.

Jaws, when Quint gets eaten. I was around 7 or 8 watching that, disturbed me.

Duncan being burned alive in Last of the Mohicans.

You can pick probably 1 from every Saw movie. The one that I remember most was when Jigsaw had the big black guy’s body shackled to that turnstile type device. Every time a turn was made you heard bones snap. Dudes head did a 180 by the end

This is always my second choice when these threads get started. The snapping sounds are just brutal. And he's crying and begging for the thing to stop... Ugh hard to watch.

However the number one messed up scene for me will always be the rape scene from Last House on the Left. I was not expecting that and when it happened, I felt physically uncomfortable in my own skin. I didn't sleep well for a week after that. I think I actually cried later when I thought about it. The way the scene played out just seemed so damn realistic and made you feel like you were actually watching something real happen. Just makes you feel how devastating the act of rape is.

The scene with the baby in “Mother”

It’s disturbing in and of itself. But it was all the more disturbing for me because my wife was 8 months pregnant at the time with our first child.

The bedroom scene from Terrifier 2 is notoriously gruesome.
