I'd obviously like us to beat them easily so we have a bit of confidence going into the second round, but I won't overreact if we sandbag a bit and win by 10-14. Tulane is not a team we should need to open the playbook up against to beat soundly due to the talent advantage we have

Well he should have it a bit easier in the redzone here in Baton Rouge. We have this manchild named Trey'dez Green. 6'7 240lbs beast to just throw it up too. Something that the previous offensive staff REFUSED to do

More than fair. We did throw to TEs a good bit under Weis, so I'd imagine Green will get used a lot in short-yardage situations

In the last 6 years, OM has only been down going into the 4th quarter in TWO games.. Half of those years, CWJ was the OC. Y’all are about to find out how much he and Kiffin meant to yalls program. Compare it to when LSU lost Ensminger/Brady/Burrow

I'm not thrilled about losing CWJ, but his situational play-calling really lacked sometimes. We couldn't find a way to convert short-yardage downs last season and had to to revert to using our 290lb defensive tackle to push the pile.

He's a good OC and has helped us win a lot of games. He's also young and hasn't been a good short-yardage or redzone play caller at all.

-Our redzone offense is 55th in the country in touchdown percentage this season, was 95th in the country last season, and was 33rd in the country the year before last.
-Our third down offense is 27th in the country in conversion percentage this season, was 57th in the country last season, and was 102nd in the country the year before last.

This is why we've had a love-hate relationship with Weis. His offense scores points, but isn't particularly effective in high pressure situations.
Charlie Weis Jr. and John David Baker were our best two options for OC next year. Glad we got one of them. JDB knows our system since he was our co-OC for 3 seasons ('21-'23), so he brings about a bit of continuity and knowledge of our system. Good hire for us.
No, I don't regret that we hired Kiffin at all. Kiffin helped bring our program into the NIL era and won a ton of games in the process. I've never seen us win at the sustained level that we have over the past 5 seasons, and now we have a playoff berth to show for it.

Coaches come and go. It's not very often anymore that you see a coach stay at one school for long stretches of time. Kiffin had the longest tenure here of any head coach since David Cutcliffe and I'm thankful that we kept him as long as we did.

I hate seeing Kiffin go to LSU. I was personally okay with all of the wandering eye stuff with Kiffin, anyone who has kept up with his career knows that he has always had and always will have an eye for his next career move. Best of luck to y'all and I look forward to our game next season.
According to 247 Sports, Penn State currently has the 134th ranked overall recruiting class for the 2026 cycle. There are only 136 D1 classes included in these rankings.

Furthermore, Penn State's "Composite" 2026 class is currently ranked dead last at 150.

Oh how the mighty pedophiles have fallen.

A&M fumbled the bag in the Texas game. Ole Miss’ lone loss is a one score loss to the current #3 seed. Committee got it right IMO.

I just dont understand how other fans can equally or place greater emphasis on a bad loss or a good loss than SOS or a good win, just my 2 cents.

It isn't that fans place equal or greater emphasis on bad losses vs. good losses/good wins, it's that the CFP Committee places greater emphasis on bad losses vs. good losses/good wins. It's the chief reason we were left out last year despite being one of the best overall teams in the country. We were top 3 in both PPG scored and PPG allowed and were left out because we lost a head-scratcher to Kentucky.

We would have destroyed a team like Indiana last season, but they were 11-1 and we were 9-3, so they got the nod over us. Just the way it works right now.

Honestly my main gripe is the OOC scheduling. We asked Fox to move that game and they denied it. It was a good schedule when we were in the Big 12 but it serves no purpose when we moved to the SEC.

Simple fact is a 10-2 Texas team with H2H wins over OU and Vandy is in with scheduling (and beating) a cupcake P4 team like 90% of the rest of P4 teams do and have done for decades.

You will (and with Bamas announcement today) and already have seen ADs will change or remove P4 games because of this. No reason to take the unnecessary risk.

Ohio State is 140-14 at home the past 20 years. Why take that risk when you can schedule Baylor, Va Tech, etc.

Completely agree with all you said here. OOC scheduling will go the way of the dodo because of 9-game SEC schedules. What's the point of scheduling a tough OOC opponent when you can virtually guarantee yourself 3 wins? Why not schedule a semi-okay opponent like Tulane, Memphis, etc. as your big OOC matchup instead of Ohio State?

If y'all were 10-2 with H2H wins over OU and Vandy, y'all would jump either Notre Dame or Miami, easily.

Just looked it up, you played Wake Forest and an FCS team (so not exactly like going to Ohio State week 1) and you had 1 top 15 win, Texas has 3. So no, that is not the same at all.

I get where you’re coming from, but your issue is that you’re having to jump teams like Oklahoma and Alabama to get into the field because of automatic conference champion bids. You won’t jump either of those teams. The only way yall get in is if the committee drops one of Miami or Notre Dame out, which isn’t likely

Trust me, it’s frustrating being the odd man out. We trailed for all of 2 minutes last year and lost 3 games. I firmly believe we were one of the 12 best teams in the country last year, but the CFP isn’t played by the 12 best teams. Automatic bids make it difficult for fringe teams like Texas to get in
Weis is legally not allowed to sign a deal until he isn’t employed by Ole Miss. Our official football twitter account just tweeted that Weis is on staff for the playoffs, so Weis is still employed by Ole Miss. The offer sheet he signed is basically an MOU, meaning Weis understands the terms of the contract he is being offered but hasn’t signed
To be clear, Weis hasn’t signed a contract, just a term sheet. Not saying he will, but he is able to back out of a term sheet pretty easily if he wanted
Texas this year = Ole Miss last year. We had some great wins but bad losses to teams like Kentucky that kept us out. Texas is the same way this year - great wins over Oklahoma and A&M, but a bad loss to Florida will be the difference.
Y’all will probably be seeded 13-14 when it’s all said and done because of the conference champion automatic bids
No reason to pay him $35-$40M if he’s leaving anyways. I hate that we’re late to the party, but I’d rather be late to the party than have to shell out $40M for a guy who doesn’t wanna be here
Probably Florida if all we've been hearing from our beat writers is correct. I'd expect us to make a big swing at him today and I'm holding out hope that we can get him. Sumrall and Kiffin are the only two big names in this coaching cycle.
I hate the way it’s ending for my school, but damn, it has been absolute cinema for weeks now. Love yall and enjoy the ride

Well this is gonna be fun
