I thought it was enjoyable. I'm not saying it is like exquisite cinema or anything, but for what I wanted it to be, I had a great time. Gorgeous movie and the fights were well done. Sound work was excellent and it used a lot from the actual games, especially with the fight levels and worked them in surprisingly well. Much less exposition in this one and kind of just rushes right into the tournament, so pacing was a bit frantic at times.

Okay, random forum poster. I'll base my decisions on your subjective tastes in film

I saw it last night and it’s way better than the first one. They corrected a few mistakes from the first movie and the fight scenes were way better. I wish the script was a bit better but that’s the trade off with getting a popcorn flick.

Same. The entire time I was watching it I was thinking about how bad it was. It was a straight to Netflix one though right? For some reason got semi excited about this one.

straight to HBO MAX during Covid.

i enjoyed the first one enough. better faithful adaptation than the 90s, but less enjoyable if that makes sense.

i'll still see this one. Urban is enough of a draw.

I saw it last night and, for what it is, there is a lot to like in the action, gore, surprises, and of course the final fight in the tournament. Not to mention the smart alec antics of Johnny Cage and Kano. I’m 73 and went with a couple of my sons.

Critical Drinker disagrees strongly, he thought it was quite a bit of fun.
I'll trust him over whoever the hell you are.

The main problem is that not only was that likely the best scene in the movie,

Do not expect anything close to that in this movie

It's a perfectly forgettable middle of the road action movie

Noted.

But to be fair, if I get cool fight scenes with some of the MK characters I like, I’ll be satisfied. My bar is pretty low for it.

I know I watched the last one, but for the life of me I cannot remember a thing about it.

I remember the opening and ending Scorption vs Sub Zero scenes were absolutely fantastic. The first one in particular. From what I recall, I didn't really like the rest of the movie because 1) It inexplicably used on a made-up / non MK character and 2) There wasn't a whole lot of Mortal Kombating in a Mortal Kombat movie.

Just judging from the trailers, I had hoped MK2 had alleviated those 2 big issues. I don't need an indepth storyline. Just a Mortal Kombat movie that Mortal Kombats.

Saw it in Dolby last night. If you liked the 1st you’ll like this one. Visuals, sound, and fight scenes are all amazing. Script and pacing are terrible but that’s not why you’re going to see this movie anyway

I couldn't disagree agree more. I just got out of the theaters and loved it. It was a fun ride from start to finish.
Kung Lao v Liu Kang was definitely the highlight.

My only dislike is they made Quan Chi look like a little bitch.

Saw it today. Wasn't a big fan of Jade or Kano's story arcs. Baraka was kind of silly and not what I would have expected from him. I would have liked to see more of Scorpion and Liu Kang and less of Kitana but it wasn't too bad. Overall it was enjoyable enough.

Well said. Just got out from seeing it. It was just a fun flick all around. The attention to detail for the battle arenas was top notch. The acid bath pit in particular was so nostalgic. The end with Baraka and cage cracked me up. Would recommend if you're a 90s kid.
