Wasn’t sure it was you, so didn’t feel like explaining to the wife on the way out I may or may not know that guy from the internets

Solid happy hour there though

Are you really that stupid or are you just refusing to admit you don't know what the hell you are talking about b/c you didn't watch something you ran here to complain about yet again?
They were CLEARLY joking w/each other.

Honestly, my issue with the first episode is that they are using the "shape shifting" as a crutch, so to speak. I realize this is premise of the Invasion storyline, but they should be using it as a tool. My interest in the story is Fury's reintroduction into the spy world, his real reason for being at SABRE (or however its spelled) and the relationship between Talos and Giah. Not to mention that explosions in the middle of Moscow meant to start a war would bring out multiple Avengers. I just expected a tighter story which is why I'll watch. Maybe I'm just being overly critical too early.
For the MCU stuff we've gotten since WandaVision? It's good. It's not action-scene-to-action-scene, there's a decent bit of story told. Considering how shite their writing has been lately, I'm reserving judgement until we get a couple more episodes. I like what they've done with positioning of the skrulls, but I could easily see them overdoing it (I feel like they already may have by having the mind-reading device). Their ability makes them easily too overpowered if they are hiding behind (or posing as) every other rock or tree, fighting back against that would risk creating a lot of plot armor. They need to keep in mind that 500 is not that great an amount, even if they can shape change.

Should add a Spoiler Warning to the thread title.

****spoiler alert*****
I watched it today with high expectations after reading this thread. Maybe my expectations were too high. I found it to be a very pale imitation of the marvel magic. Nick Fury is a bumbling old fool, and not in a good way like let’s set up his triumphant return. The secret invasion doesn’t really seem so secret after about 10 seconds, and they do a terrible job of setting up the stakes for the dirty bomb.
The writing and the acting were above she hulk, but below Hawkeye. I realise this is just one episode, but I’m not counting down the days until the next instalment like I did with Loki or Wandavision, and even Hawkeye. This is definitely NOT Marvel’s Andor.

I’m not buying it.

I don't think it landed with me.
The acting was great... but you killed off two of your best actors in the first episode.
The writing was... not so great. Bordering on craptacular. A dirty bomb threat in the middle of Moscow? I'm sorry, you don't have a team consisting of an elderly Nick Fury, a semi-retired Agent Hill, and a Skrull who is dedicated to not killing other Skrulls try to stop that.
For Pete's sake, you've got Photon sitting up there in SABER. She could probably eat the dirty bombs. You could call in whoever is left of the Avengers. If they exist in this universe you could have Daisy Johnson and the rest of SHIELD there in force.
Finally, and I know this will cause a small riot on here, but Emilia Clarke as a terrorist comes across as an actress who would be best suited to play a librarian who finds love in a B tier romantic comedy with wacky hijinks. I don't buy her as a ruthless terrorist. Maybe she will prove me wrong but for all the hate she got, I bought Erin Kellyman (the female terrorist lead from Falcon and Winter Soldier) as a crazy bitch who would kill people for her cause. Clarke... enh...

Sad that more people aren't watching this show, strong first two episodes. The back to back train scene and the scene between Fury and Hill's mother was really good.

I guess she is really dead. I also don’t see how this can play out without the help of someone stronger.

Presumably Olivia Colman will be his powerful ally, no. Could see this being buddy cop thing like Broadchurch.
Assuming Mendo plays a continued role, but I assume that’s a father/daughter storyline tangent.

The whole conversation is a complete mess and reflects poorly on the writers.
True. Trying to shoehorn a "racist term" discussion into the show is pitiful.
