Or instead of relying on the media to tell us if a show is bad or not, we just watch it and form our own opinions. Crazy concept, I know.
What make you think the critism of this show wasn't form from their own opinion? Why must any negative comment be youtube parroting?
I watched falcon and winter solider, that was trash. I watched Loki, that was okay but close to trash, same with What if...by the time the 4th series came along. I could tell that it was already trash and I was right. Thats my own opinion and every show since then been trash, and by trash, not on the MCU movie caliber.
So rather then letting them have another number to add to their views cause a view can only be taken as a positive. You don't watch it because its trash.
It no different then constantly going to a restaurant that server shite six days a week and good food once a week. You don't know when food and not shite is being served but you still go there to eat shite anyway because "how do you know if you don't try it out it could be food today!"
There enough reivews and advertisement to let people know which end of the spectrum this show is going to be rated.

Because I read this board and notice posters that constantly do this. Example, Kaiju is convinced Andor is shite because Nerdrotic told him not to like it. Instead of watching the show, he doubles down on YouTube opinions.

Nope, not true.
I have zero opinion on Andor. I’m just relaying what others are saying about it. He & others more vested in latter day Star Wars than I have said it was mid, not terrible, but far from awesome.
I would consider myself more knowledgeable about Tolkien, for example, than most typical fans, but I am still not an expert.
I grew up with Star Wars, as the original movies came out, that’s pretty much where my interest stayed.. Those who have gone deeper into the saga know more than I will.. Which is why I tend to refer to them on certain aspects.

Honestly, my issue with the first episode is that they are using the "shape shifting" as a crutch, so to speak. I realize this is premise of the Invasion storyline, but they should be using it as a tool. My interest in the story is Fury's reintroduction into the spy world, his real reason for being at SABRE (or however its spelled) and the relationship between Talos and Giah. Not to mention that explosions in the middle of Moscow meant to start a war would bring out multiple Avengers. I just expected a tighter story which is why I'll watch. Maybe I'm just being overly critical too early.

Did you guys play with your funko pop toys as you watched the episode?

With witty exchanges between Hill & Fury regarding the word 'spook', and who can use it
I was actually pretty confused by that exchange. Are they trying to say "spook" is a racial term? I've never heard that term used to describe a race before.

Marvel and Star Wars seems to be the only reason for having Disney+ these days.
You can leave one of these out.

Should watch the Marvel Legends shorts about the major characters. They release them on D+ shortly before every new movie or show release.

It can be but it fell out of fashion a long time ago though it was used in pop culture media as late as the mid 80s.
quote:
Originally, pilots of the Tuskegee Institute—derived of the first Black military aviators in the U.S. Army Air Corps—were called the "Spookwaffe"—a play on the German term "waffe," which means weapon or gun. When airmen returned from their posts with the nickname, white Americans caught wind of the name and began linking the term "spook" to blackness, thus resulting in the word transitioning into a racial slur and its derogatory use.
Author Sam Greenlee did attempt to revive the word's initial definition with his 1969 book The Spook Who Sat By the Door, which was later turned into a feature film in 1973. The plot follows the fictional story of the first Black CIA agent Lawrence Cook, and the reference of the word "spook" serves as a reference to the fact that he is a spy, although the term is also used in a racially offensive way by those who Lawrence encounters throughout the book and movie.

If you've seen Back to the Future, you've heard it used though you may not have realized it. One of Biff's gang uses it on the band members when they get out of the car after tossing Marty into the trunk while they are on a break at the dance.

Huh. I didn't remember him saying that.
I guess Disney is trying to resurrect a forgotten slur.

Or also Luftwaffe, which is what the German AirForce was called.
Luft - waffe
Spook - waffe
They sorta sound similar.
While I did recall hearing it used in Back to the Future, having read most of Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan & John Clark stories, the term 'spook' was often used as a reference to spy, or one who appears then vanishes. Like a ghost.
In the context of SHIELD, and Nick Fury, it'd make far more sense that he was talking about spy stuff, especially regarding the Cold War. And if Maria Hill was worth a damn, she'd have known that, and never tried to admonish Nick for saying the word 'spook'. They'd both understood what it meant, and the context, that it wouldn't remotely be 'racial'.
The whole conversation is a complete mess and reflects poorly on the writers.

Admonished? There is no way anyone who saw the show would in good faith interpret that line in a negative way.
It wasn't even a conversation. It was a jokey bit that lasted all of two seconds and was clearly old friends shite talking to each other.
May as well admit you didn't see it just like all the other stuff you crap on that you didn't actually see.

Nick Fury: Spooks like us buying shots.
Maria Hill: you can’t say that.
Nick Fury: No you can’t say that
That's admonishing him for saying 'spook'. If some mouth breather didn't catch the context of this conversation, then that's exactly who should be watching this garbage.
FFS.

Another win for Trump for inspiring such a great show. Are you going on record about Andor being a shite show because you have terminal TDS?
