It premieres in a week on June 21. There is zero hype for this show. It shows how bad the Marvel output has been besides GotG recently. For some reason (i have no good excuse), I am hyped for this one.

Some reviews are starting to come out from some youtubers and it seems like its gonna be a step up from the recent struggles. One even called it the Andor of the MCU, its got some darkness to it

#SecretInvasion is definitely Marvel's most mature title for Disney+ yet. The language and writing knows the audience has grown up and flashes of violence keep it feeling realistic while emphasizing the stakes. The Skrull invasion feels grounded and tense. I'm digging it.

quote:

Erik Davis (@ErikDavis)
Marvel’s #SecretInvasion is all spy thriller vibes w/ moody intrigue, political conspiracies & some great Nick Fury dialogue. BIG things happen right off the bat! A wicked Olivia Colman is the breakout scene stealer early on (love her character) - solid first 2 episodes imo

quote:

Dempsey Pillot is at the Tribeca Festival (@DempseyPillot)
Marvel's #SecretInvasion brilliantly gives fans a glimpse at what Earth is like when its Mightiest Heroes aren't around. A bit slow at first, it's nothing short of top-tier MCU. Nick Fury & company are great, but the paranoia is GREATER. Imagine John Carpenter's The Thing x 10.

quote:

Daniel Baptista • The Movie Podcast (@dbapz)
The first two episodes of #SecretInvasion are grounded, gritty, and full of suspense. @SamuelLJackson is fantastic and finally gets to explore the dark pathos and vulnerability of a man who always has the weight of the world on his shoulders. Some truly shocking moments. 1/2

quote:

Emmanuel (E-Man) Noisette (@EmansReviews)
Only 2 episodes in and #SecretInvasion is getting back to business a la Marvel's early phases. Winter Soldier tones are set. Best of all, this series isn't afraid of taking risks in the story early on. If this can stick the landing, it can become one of the better MCU series.

quote:

Coy Jandreau (@CoyJandreau)
With how incredible #GuardiansoftheGalaxyVol3 is , I was slightly worried #SecretInvasion wouldn’t be able to give me that same peak #MCU rush

I did NOT need to worry, if this show stays THIS good and sticks the landing it’ll be up there with #Loki & #WandaVision as peak #MCU TV

quote:

Grace Randolph (@GraceRandolph)
#SecretInvasion is #Marvel’s #Andor

Let’s hope there are some banger episodes ahead.

quote:

Josh Martin-Jones (@JoshM_Jones)
The first two eps of #SecretInvasion set the stage for a nerve-inducing and gritty thriller and keeps you on the edge of your seat.

This darker side of the MCU is just as enjoyable as the rest, proven by its gripping narrative, as well as some truly bold directions for the show.

quote:

BSL (@bigscreenleaks)
#Secretinvasion is a back to basics, gritty spy thriller that’s a breath of fresh air for Marvel Studios. The action sequences are fantastic and Samuel L. Jackson, Kingsley Ben-Adir and Olivia Colman are standouts. A solid start for what could be one of Marvel’s best shows.

quote:

Off Colour (@OffColourOrg)
Let’s talk about how #SecretInvasion is coming for our necks!

Unlike previous Marvel shows, Secret Invasion benefits from the decades of lead-up and hits the ground running, making the most of it.

Samuel L. Jackson brings to screen a new side of Fury we’ve never fully explored.

quote:

Eric Goldman (@TheEricGoldman)
1st episode of #SecretInvasion isn’t great. Pacing’s very slow and it didn’t grab me. Major improvement in ep 2 with great scenes for Fury, Rhodey, and Olivia Colman’s character. Tone is pretty serious (and sometimes fairly brutal) for Marvel. By end of ep 2, I was much more sold

quote:

Erik Swann (@SwannErik)
One more thing I'll say about #SecretInvasion is that Don Cheadle is truly getting a chance to flex his muscles. It's clear from the jump that Rhodey is evolving in some interesting ways.

quote:

John Rocha aka The Outlaw Nation (@TheRochaSays)
Thoroughly enjoyed Eps 1 and 2 of #SecretInvasion aka Old Man Fury!

It’s a brutal and dark #MCU series that explores the themes of survivalism and integration with some shocking scenes of violence.

There’s a bit of #Marvel cheese, but it doesn’t overshadow the goodness here.

Actually it probably will make for a pretty good series
Spy thriller not knowing who's good/bad
Will be much better than She Hulk and Samuel L Jackson should thrive in this

There’s been ads for it forever now. It’s the only thing I’ve looked forward to from the MCU as everything else lately has been shite except GotG. Still haven’t watched the new Antman.

Marvel and Star Wars seems to be the only reason for having Disney+ these days.

This is showing your bias, there is huge hype for this show based upon how different it is.

In the Comics, Secret Invasion was the storyline right after Civil War and wasn’t half bad. Not woke at all.

There are zero guarantees for the movie.

I don't really care what the access media has to say about this series, but this is one I've actually been looking forward to.

First episode was great, great beginning and end. If it keeps up this level of quality it will be the best series they have done.

I watched parts of Winter Soldier and Civil War last night. Just got an urge.

If they are really getting back to this, I will watch.

Damn good first episode. Assuming this will be the thread we discuss this show in, but to avoid spoilers right now don't scroll further:

Cobie Smulders 11 year run in the MCU comes to an end. Pretty surprising ending as I was expecting her to stick around for the length of the show.

Martin Freeman's Everett Ross is still alive, I'm assuming? In Skrull custody somewhere? I guess the real question is, how long?

So you’re hyped for this show but not watching because it looks terrible? Probably makes sense in your mind.

I’m watching right now. Intriguing plot so far and an absolute stacked cast. So far so good.
