That was Mark telling the fans that have given him a career for 40 years, hey it was not my fault! Lol Disney may have made a massive mistake with Star Wars. My 13 year old son’s reaction was all I needed to see to know they screwed up.

I am so glad others can see how I feel now that disney ruined my childhood favorite thing...ESPN. This Star Wars thing doesn’t surprise any of us old ESPN fans.

Luke said that he slippes up in thought for a moment and then felt bad and Ben then attacked him out of self-defense.

the revelation of Luke and Kylo's relationship was the best part of that movie IMHO.

I saw Vader. I saw worse. I saw what he'd become. What he'd do. But when I went to him that night I looked in his eyes and saw a terrified kid... Who's master had failed him.

That line is awesome and powerful. It was the only scene on the movie that I loved. Would've been maybe in the running for best in franchise if we had any backstory. Like a montage or flashback of Luke training Ben and the other Jedi and who Snoke is and how he got to Ben....

But even that scene flies in the face of the established plot.

Because Kylo took a bunch of trainees with him and burned Luke's temple.

So Kylo knocks Luke out and then goes and wakes up a bunch of other trainees and is like "hey Luke tried to kill me don't ask questions burn the temple down kill everyone and follow me" and they just blindly do it and then dissappear never to be seen again? Snoke calls Kylo the master of the knights of Ren. Who the hell were they? .

Or Snoke and Kylo had already completely undermined Luke's entire temple and school?

The more you peel back this movie the more you realize it's shallow with no connection to the Star Wars universe. Johnson made a completely stand alone movie with a finale that ends the franchise Skywalker story line but he made it as the second film in a trilogy and the eighth film in a series. It's mind boggling.

Yea, what happened to the Knights of Ren?

Are we supposed to assume that they were Snoke’s guards or something?

Can't be. Unless they all lost their light sabers and force abilities.

But that would've been awesome to see Kylo and Rey team up and fight the Knights of Ren.

Snoke makes a point to stoke Kylo's ego by calling him Master of the Knights of Ren

Luke says he turned a few of his trainees.

Hell even a training montage where Snoke has Kylo combat trained by killing the other Knights would've been cool. Fight to the death for the chance to train under Snoke.

But we got none of that.

I think Mark needs to move on. He had his moment, 40 years ago. It’s time for the next generation of characters to have their moment. The whole movie was about moving on from the past. Mark Hamill and the rest of you angry Star Wars fan need to move on as well.

Add Hux to that list.

Johnson turned him into a Three Stooges character.

That's probably the worst thing about this movie for me. It was like a drive by of these possible awesome moments that they then just completely went in unnecessary direction from.

How much more awesome would the Imperial Guard scene have been (assuming they had also done some backstory on the KOR and flesh it out more) if it had been the KOR that Ren and Rey had defeated? First, its then a full on Jedi battle, which the film avoids. Second, when Rey doesn't then join Ren afterwards, the sense of anger and betrayal in Ren is magnified since he just killed his own followers thinking he and Rey were starting something new.

Why not just make their own new and unique IP?

Why not set this trilogy 500 years after the OT?

If the whole point of this trilogy was to alienate the fanbase and destroy the established universe, does that sound in any way like a smart business decision?

That takes deep story telling, competent script writing, and an appreciation of the past stories of Star Wars and the fanbase. All things Rian Johnson completely lacks or actively refuses to do m

If there is no Skywalkers in the movie it is not Star Wars, its just a Sci-Fi flick. Killing off Luke in part two of three is either rebooting it or ending it. If this was the final movie, then people wouldn't be as mad. Part 9 is two years away and many people who didn't like TLJ wont be seeing it.

The only people melting are those who refuse to get honest and say anything negative about the movie. Star Wars fanboys. I don't know how old you are, but the same thing happened with the prequels. I remember people fighting tooth and nail to say that us old fricks were just jealous that the new generation had a new Star Wars trilogy. Then, somewhere along the way people got real with themselves and realized how much the prequels sucked.

Believe it or not, the universe that Lucas set up is very limited. He created this whole galaxy that is focused on one family lineage. Rian is simply moving the story forward and showing that anyone is capable of greatness. Star Wars is creatively broke. Each Trilogy has had the same story arc, and Rian is bucking that trend. Get over it already.

Did the movie have flaws, of course it did. If you analyze every film like a Star Wars film you will see flaws in every movie. This movie also introduced new ideas about the force, and its powers we’ve never seen before, and took it in the direction it needed to go.

fricking this.

Why use the OG characters if they wanted to wash them away?

Just go a couple 100 years into the future and have a reference to them as former Heros. Done, nobody complains. Don't fundamentally change their characters.
