This was definitely something that required much thought after the fact for me. But it makes sense in light of the complete story and how "they" wanted to give themselves (evolved humanity) a better shot.

Like it but the end when he sees his daughter again is stupid. He walks into a room full of his grandchildren and great grandchildren and no one wants to talk to him? No affection no nothing.

The score for this movie is incredible

It really is great. It adds to the intensity without pulling you away from the visuals. It's perfect imo.

Right, of all the hokeyness of the film that got me too.

dude would have been a hero for ages, and probably had statues of himself in times square (or wherever the hell they were floating around).

instead he gets a villains welcome and a remake of an old shitty farm house.

It's one of my all time favorite movies. The bootstrap paradox was easy for me to ignore from all of the amazing visuals and thought provoking ideas. The idea of time being altered by gravity was something I've never contemplated before Interstellar.

The only dumb thing I hated was the "love transcends dimensions of time and space" line. Cringy

Not sure how many times I've rewatched this movie, but the hair on my arms stands on end every time I watch this scene. The music is perfect and everything about the scene is unbelievable.

Most of the shots in the film involving the ships are miniatures and mock-ups. Just gives it a raw sense of realism.

Here's a miniature of the Endurance, and note the damage shown after the explosion.

Great discussion here ladies and gents.

Some movies and content you simply just have to watch several times. Like Contact, Interstellar has become more enjoyable over several watches for me. I think some movies you just have to watch several times to really understand what's happening and follow the theories - particularly in Interstellar - to understand the story.

I'm intellectually curious, mostly about earthly things, so I didn't know any of the granular science on physics, the "event horizon", etc... Its compelling and fascinating when presented and certainly made me want to go down a few rabbit-holes. Which I did, BTW. I just don't wake up thinking about these things. A movie like this bridges this curiosity gap and compelled me to read many things I'd likely wouldn't have read.

But the story as a movie was really great too. No question I'll watch it again in the future.

(edit) Kyle Chandler would have been an excellent Dr. Mann and would have driven a stake in the heart of us watchers on the double-cross. That would have been casting genius IMO.

Oh, I like this idea a lot

....

I'm one of the few who didn't have a problem with Damon in it... mostly bc I had stayed away from all trailers and info about it and was completely surprised when Damon emerged from his chamber

You know, if my great grandfather, whom I never saw, walked into a room still in his prime, I’d be bugging the hell out of him

I would have considered sending hate mail. But that would have been outstanding in a movie.

Probably would be the best, least seen coming, twist in a movie since Bruce Willis being dead the whole time. Honestly, probably an even bigger shock. I was surprised Matt Damon was in that "coffin", but as soon as I saw it was Matt Damon, I was just waiting for him to try and kill Matt.

I may be the first to admit I've watched Good Will Hunting a bit too much. I think Damon is great.

He seems to play to the "good guy" turned murderer/dick/douchbag too much for me though. Mr Ripley, Interstellar and a couple of others. He plays against type as his typecast it seems, if that make sense. And I'm not knocking him that's just an observation.

I absolutely love this movie.

It might arguably get a bit dusty in the room when the doctor says "This is Murphy Cooper we're talking here" and Coop replies "yes, it is".

There is some good information out there if anyone wants to nerd out on the physics behind the movie.

Here is the first of a series of six blog posts by a french physicist: LINK /

And of course there is the book by Kip Thorne, which I'd like to read one of these days: LINK
