I actually thought all four movies were good, even Fincher's 3rd one.
Imo, Alien was the best. I like the suspense/horror of that movie compared to the badass action of the second one.

Definitely. Aliens is great, but doesn't match the suspense of the first one.

Resurrection was just on tonight. And lol I watched AVP recently as well.
I wonder if we will see the Elephant type species we briefly saw in Alien in the upcoming Prometheus film. The race who is theorized to have created the Aliens.

It's really hard to top the chest burster scene. Only scene I can think of that comes close to being that disturbing of a way to go has to go to Jackson's remake of King Kong when Andy Serkis is eaten alive by giant penises. At some point in this scene, every person was thinking "This is the very last way I'd want to go". Its as if Jackson tried to out-phallus the Chest burster in Alien.... and won. LINK

While yes, I agree that Aliens is a better film, it had been a while since I'd seen Alien, so I watched the Prometheus trailer with a friend and then popped it in.
Someone look at this trailer at point 1:48 and 1:58, in which it shows a somewhat humanoid/alien hybrid thing seated, which looks just like the thing seated inside the U shaped ship they find the eggs in.

Look at the Alien trailer at 0:52 and tell me that's not the same U shaped ship in the Prometheus trailer.
Perhaps I'm looking too far into it, but if you take the Prometheus trailer slow, you can see a large human head above what looks like eggs. Which, I also have a question about, it seemed as if when Kane finds the eggs, he passes somewhat of a blue beam, almost triggering the facehugger to come out. Is this possible? Did the xenomorphs plan ahead?
The trailers are perfectly similar, in the design of the Title and the pulsing siren/scream.
I realize the similarities lie within the invention of androids, as revealed by the viral TED Prometheus video, but it seems as if there's more to it than that.
