While yes, I agree that Aliens is a better film, it had been a while since I'd seen Alien, so I watched the Prometheus trailer with a friend and then popped it in.
Someone look at this trailer at point 1:48 and 1:58, in which it shows a somewhat humanoid/alien hybrid thing seated, which looks just like the thing seated inside the U shaped ship they find the eggs in.
Alien trailer
Look at the Alien trailer at 0:52 and tell me that's not the same U shaped ship in the Prometheus trailer.
Perhaps I'm looking too far into it, but if you take the Prometheus trailer slow, you can see a large human head above what looks like eggs. Which, I also have a question about, it seemed as if when Kane finds the eggs, he passes somewhat of a blue beam, almost triggering the facehugger to come out. Is this possible? Did the xenomorphs plan ahead?
The trailers are perfectly similar, in the design of the Title and the pulsing siren/scream.
I realize the similarities lie within the invention of androids, as revealed by the viral TED Prometheus video, but it seems as if there's more to it than that.
It all looks the same, because it is supposed to be the same ship. In Prometheus, Scott chose to go with a new alien species that had something to do with the xenomorphs.

Yeah, I did. Just finally connected the dots.
Oh yeah, and Fassbender is definitely the android.

Alien is the better film, but Aliens is more enjoyable IMO. Both have aged exceptionally well.

With Alien, you have the suspense/horror film. With Aliens, you have the action/horror film.
"That's it man, game over man, game over!"

"Hey, maybe you haven't been keeping up on current events, but we just got our asses kicked, pal!"
Ripley: Hudson! This little girl survived longer than that with no weapons and no training. Right?
Newt salutes
Hudson: Why don't you put her in charge?

Hudson is freaking awesome and so many of his quotes are badass.
Hudson: They're coming outta the walls. They're coming outta the goddamn walls. Let's book!
Ripley: They cut the power.
Hudson: What do you mean, "*They* cut the power"? How could they cut the power, man? They're animals!
Hudson: Hey Vasquez, have you ever been mistaken for a man?
Vasquez: No. Have you?
Frost: Hot as hell in here.
Hudson: Yeah man, but it's a dry heat!
Bishop: I'm afraid I have some bad news.
Hudson: Well that's a switch.
Hudson: Stop your grinnin' and drop your linen!
Hudson: I'm ready, man, check it out. I am the ultimate badass! State of the badass art! You do NOT wanna frick with me. Check it out! Hey Ripley, don't worry. Me and my squad of ultimate badasses will protect you! Check it out! Independently targeting particle beam phalanx. Vwap! Fry half a city with this puppy. We got tactical smart missiles, phase-plasma pulse rifles, RPGs, we got sonic electronic ball breakers! We got nukes, we got knives, sharp sticks...
Hudson does nothing but bitch and complain the entire movie.

I laughed my arse off when I heard the commentary about the line where Hudson says Vasquez thought they said "illegal alien" and that's why she enlisted. Turns out the chick playing Vasquez thought the role really was about an illegal alien and didn't learn what the movie was about until she showed up. So they turned it into a joke and made it into a line in the movie.
ETA: And you have to feel bad for the man. He's been killed by an Alien, a Terminator, and a Predator.

I forget about "Bishop" getting killed by a Predator because his death is from that abomination, AvP.

quote:Its pretty funny that both Bill Paxton and Lance Henriksen were killed by a xenomorph, a terminator, and a predator. I like cool little stats like that.

Awesome, so like I thought once I heard "prequel" we really are getting to learn more about the Mala'kak aka Pilots/Space Jockeys, the Elephant type species we briefly saw on the ship early part of Alien.
They are rumored to have created the Xenomorphs to help stop their own civil war, but obviously couldn't control them.

Explain this TED viral video.

So you totally looked over the Space Jockey from Alien yet acknowledge his appearance in Prometheus? Nice.

Hudson:
2 more weeks and out, now im gonna buy it on this rock.
We're in some real pretty shite now.

Can't say I'm in love with that idea. I thought the story would be completely original, and there are too many remakes, sequels and prequels these days.
But, in Ridley I trust. He never lets me down.

Was that question directed at me?
