Was lucky enough to be in attendance at the Texas/USC rose bowl. Hard to believe it’s been 20 years. Even then, at 18, I knew I would probably never attend a game that would surpass the greatness of that night.

Was that the year Vince Youngs knee was down and should have lost to Kansas and Mark Magino screaming that's right BCS dollar signs? Also Vince Young 1-2 vs OU lol.

Believe it was a controversial PI call in the 2004 Kansas game that led to the classic Mangino rant. I don’t remember a knee down play from that game, but could be wrong. VY memorably converted a 4th and 17 with his legs late in the game to keep Texas alive.

But that’s 2004, the year Texas beat Michigan in the Rose Bowl and when asked about the title game being in Pasadena the following year, VY proclaimed “We’ll be Ba-aaack!” (something Sam Ehlinger was paying homage to with his infamous “we’re ba-aaack” line at the 2019 sugar bowl).

There’s no doubt the Ags got a lucky SEC draw this year. But they’ve taken care of their business, and will still have to prove themselves in Atlanta and especially in the playoffs.

Good enough to knock off one of Vandy/GA/A&M? Maybe.

Not all three. It’s a very flawed team (offense).
Vandy will crush us based on today’s performances. And we could lose any and all of the remaining games.
Relax fellas, it’s clearly a shite post, with tongue in cheek.

Not quite apples and oranges but I get what he’s doing.

Disappointing showing for sure.
Scoff all you want at which sports it was. Six SEC trophies won so far in first year of competition.

According to their Wikipedia page, A&M has 33 total SEC titles since joining the conference in 2012. Over/under six years til Texas surpasses them in SEC trophies?

2024-25 titles:
Women’s soccer (tournament)
Women’s basketball (regular season)
Men’s swimming and diving
Women’s swimming and diving
Men’s tennis (regular season and tournament)

Shame we could only manage to be runners up in football and volleyball. Still in contention for baseball, softball, men’s golf, not to mention rowing.
Three titles in 20 years is phenomenal

The show is incredible
Mikey Madison was incredible and well deserved Oscar
I weep for the English language
That predictor is fun to mess around with, but pointless to rely upon.

There’s almost certainly going to be a serious SEC logjam at the top of the standings. It’s gonna be a mess and at least a couple teams are gonna feel burned.

Hate to see it…
1-0 Horns.

First SEC title in the trophy case!
Yes, I think there is more parity.

Combined with the high variance in schedule difficulty due to the eight game schedule and lack of divisions, and it makes things extra messy.

Texas now controls its own destiny

Don’t think we do. A three way tie between UGA/Texas/A&M would come down to combined winning percentage of conference opponents. That could break in our favor but likely wouldn’t.

Us getting to 7-1 doesn’t seem too likely either.

Edit: could be wrong actually, UGA would be placed first then our h2h would come into play,
Winner of UGA-Bama will probably jump up to #1, or at least get very close.

There should be fluidity in early season polls.

re: SEC Divisions - Yes or No?

I like no divisions but we’ll see how the tiebreakers shake out this year.

Going to nine conference games will be better.
Going to Michigan and A&M (been before).

Will do Athens next year.
Texas competes in 21 sports.

2 National Championships
5 NCAA Top-2 finishes
7 NCAA Top-3s
8 NCAA Top-5s
12 NCAA Top-10s
15 Big 12 Championships

Seriously. A relic of a previous era. Give us our full screen.

It would help if you listed the 13 titles so we knew which ones to laugh at.

It's now 14 titles over 13 sports:

Football
Women's soccer (tourney)
Volleyball
Women's basketball (tourney)
Men's swimming and diving
Women's swimming and diving
Women's indoor track and field
Men's tennis (reg. season and tourney)
Men's golf
Women's golf
Softball (reg. season)

Edit as of 5/11:
Women’s outdoor track and field
Men’s outdoor track and field
The media’s laziness does not prove your point. The big 12 rules official was asked during media days if Horns down was taunting, and he answered yes. That’s it. No wording was ever added or changed in the rules. If it was, you’d be able to find it in the rulebook.
quote:

Don't act like Texas isn't bothered about the saying when they had the big 12 implement a new penalty due to their crying.

Wrong again. No rule was ever written, modified, or otherwise added with any reference to Horns down. Taunting has always been a penalty in the rules and the league simply was asked and answered whether it applied as taunting. And guess what, I don’t think it’s ever once been flagged.

But feel free to keep the narrative going. Along with the one how the SEC is going to be a shock to the system for Texas because of so much Horns Down being throw at us. As if every team we play doesn’t do that already, even during games where we’re not even playing lol .

Isn’t BYU in your conference now? Texas absolutely could have sent in a complaint

On what grounds could Texas have those shirts removed? They’re not against the rules or obscene in any way that would have the Big 12, a league we’re about to leave btw, to force college students to change.
Texas had nothing to do with it. It’s at BYU. But don’t let that get in the way of the narrative
