My favorite example of this is when they get to the mountain and the uber nerd altoids eater is like “oh yeah, I forgot to mention I’m also a professional climber” or something. It’s as if the writers got to that set piece and were like “frick, how will this weakling climb a mountain? Eh, just say he’s a mountain climber” problem solved.

Yeah, his health club has a rock wall.

Totally the same.

I didn't mind that so much, but what was up with that random 'ancient civilization' stuff? Hell, that was its own science story there, but of course they just glossed over it like sure.... old island stuff, not important.

You must have missed the previous 5 movies.

Man to think a Snickers wrapper bringing down a security system is the watershed moment in this movie is….something.

Budget Pedro Pascal was an idiot and them sailing across the Atlantic like it was no big deal was even more hard to believe than dinosaurs roaming the earth. With that being said, this movie was light years better than Dominion which shouldn’t even be considered a Jurassic Park movie.

Didn’t mind Quinn from Homeland not bothering to save that ungrateful daughter.

The hybrid raptors were dumb as shite looking as was the dumbass looking mutated T. rex or whatever it was supposed to be at the end. Seriously, who decided to green light this stuff?

The boat chase of the first dinosaur was a rip off of Jaws and Godzilla Minus One but still worked in its own little way.

The entire family and bf should’ve died during the T Rex scene but I guess he just wanted to play with his food? honestly that entire scene was awesome outside of the fact that none of the people died. Should’ve had more scenes like that.

Everyone should’ve died on that island outside of ScarJo at some point or another.

5/10, I’ll probably watch it if it’s on tv in the future. Just dial it back to raptors and a T Rex and maybe one other carnivore and don’t overthink it. The ending when the site lit up and stand by me was playing had potential but was ruined by the hybrids.

The dad deserved to have at least one of his kids chomped on. But casually allowing the smallest one to adopt a wild animal, without so much as a fight, was flippin' ridiculous. What if mom had been around, or tracking them down? The idiot choices made by the dad caused him zero consequences.

I just saw it. It’s no Jurassic Park, but it’s not Dominion (worst movie I’ve ever seen in a theater) either. I liked that it retconned Dominion. Some fun action and effects but not really any tense moments. Plot was half baked but whatever, that’s not what people are paying to see in these films. My main complaints were that it was painfully obvious who was going to live and die and the ugly flying raptor things were the most obvious “sell a toy” dinos ever. Scene would have been fine with normal raptors, and you could argue that was needed after Chris Pratt neutered them. Overall, not great, not horrible, I’d give it a 5.5/10.

Also, my message to Gareth Edwards:

The scene of the dinosaur with a helicopter in its mouth made it clear this wasn’t JP anymore. They practically copied a scene from Godzilla in the opening. I saw nods to a bunch of different monster movies.

Then whole T. Rex sequence was ridiculous. There's no scenario where the teenage girl would attempt to haul and then inflate a raft like she did. It was beyond stupid. And the T. Rex was on them in just a few strides, then quick camera angle change, he's magically 50 feet FURTHER behind them, but still closing in... they're dead. All of them. No ifs ands or buts.
100%

That whole scene was absurd.

The minute she sees the T. rex, she flees and leaves the boat.

The whole river scene was dumb and an attempt to copy the actual river scene involving Grant and the kids in the 1st book. They simply took that scene from the book and botched it.

* And finally, who do they think is buying the absurd narrative that “people got tired of dinosaurs”, and that the only way to keep the parks going is to invent new, genetically mutated monsters?
Well, I find this a “almost” fourth wall breaking treatise on how the writers, producers view the JP product.

They think we don’t want dinosaurs anymore and that we are bored with them, therefore they create these absurd mutants.

It is somewhat comical.

The D Rex was pretty underwhelming. It was a rancor that had almost zero payoff or screen presence.

It just came and went. Less attachment to that than the mutant in the 2nd movie.

Overall, it entertained, but it wasn’t a very good movie. My wife liked it.

Another nitpick of mine, where does the teenage daughter get off trying to call mayday on someone else’s boat when not asked by the captain?

She deserves to be thrown off the boat for that.

The more about dinosaurs you know or the more you pay attention to stuff the less you’ll enjoy this movie

Lost World: Jeff Goldblum, decent plot, emotional attachment to characters, great cast.

3: Dr. Grant, a little Dr. Sattler, good cast overall

Jurassic World: Good cast, perfect use of nostalgia, good plot.

Fallen Kingdom: decent plot, stuff actually happened that mattered in the world

Dominion: Old cast is back so at least I cared about those 3, decent action scenes

Rebirth:....I got nothing.

Yeah it's not a great sign when you're sitting in a theatre rolling your eyes at the plot within the first 10 minutes of a movie. I'm not one to usually overanalyze a plot while watching the movie for the first time. It's entertainment so I'm going to try to zone out and enjoy it. Couldn't do it this time. The Snickers wrapper and the T-Rex proof raft were just too much

Like seriously, how did the raft not pop?

Saw this last night. As some have mentioned, I wish they’d get away from the stupid mutant dinos. There are plenty of scary “real” carnivores yet to be portrayed to fill a movie series.

Biggest enjoyment for me were the spinosaurs and T-Rex sequences, which were really cool.

Nailed it. Another thing that irked me were the raptors. They’re about to take out the annoying bf which everyone was hoping would happen and some big flying Dino come and takes one out but where is the other one to attack the flying Dino? What a little bitch. In Jurassic Park, those give 0 fricks going after a T Rex and fight til the death. In this one the other raptor bounces with the quickness.

Wow! These movies just keep getting worse.

It’s obvious from the beginning who will survive and who dies.

They apparently created a retard mutant dinosaur.

Zero chemistry between any of the actors.

The daughter’s bf is probably the best character.

Scarjo is basically black widow without all of the cool toys.

The dinosaurs were actual abominations

They literally put a hematoma on a dinosaur's head and called him the villain

Not sure how i forgot to mention the snickers wrapper.

So the guy drops the wrapper. It magically gets blown across the floor a few times and gets sucked into a door short circuiting the entire security system of what seems to be a multi-billion dollar complex? Punishment for dropping the wrapper is becoming dinosaur food.

Another “spared no expense” moment

I have not seen this one yet...just from what I have read from your comments

Why can't they do a good scary dino movie.

Group of explorers go to an unknown island to bc of some ancient cave drawings. Unbeknownst to them is it also an abandoned lab. Now they have to get off the island with dinosaurs chasing them. Seems simple
