re: Is the MCU having just a hiccup or is it starting to fall apart?

casual fans don't give a shite about Black widow, swaying the casual fan is where they make their money IMO. Big characters sway the casual fan. Once they get back to big characters that the casual fan had known about before the MCU then the ship will right itself.

Yes, on the face of it, but we all understand why that is, right?
Right?
Nothing in the depth/breadth of the MCU has ever been done before now, much less a 23 movie arc like the Infinity Saga. Let's appreciate what they did, allow the studio to reload, and see where this new generation of MCU films takes us with Kang & the Multiverse.

don't forget some meh shows on Disney+
Loki and Wanda/Vision were both fantastic. Falcon & the Winter Soldier was kinda meh, though.

Endgame was pretty much the end. Have epilogues with the Guardians (Thor alongside), Dr Strange, and Spider-Man, and then it’s time to end it.
I don't think they can do another major plot thing over 10+ movies, but they have plenty of rope for 2-3 movie arcs across different titles.
Space + Multiverse opens up some avenues. Clearly some properties are going to face Galactus at some point. Then there are other good multi-movie villains like Dr. Doom, Apocalypse, etc.
It's not going to be the same, but it can still go on

No, once No Way Home breaks a billion and it will due to all the hype it's getting mostly because of rumors about Tobey and Andrew being in it the MCU will be back on track. We just had a BW release when some people are hesitant to still go out and it also released on D+ the same time

Nobody gives AF about BW.
Loki was great.

Loki was a huge success. Fans are excited af about Kang and multiverse happenings in the MCU.
The new Spiderman movie is almost guaranteed to hit a billion. I'd be willing to bet money on that.

I think it’s more that Black Widow is just meh. Not really an interesting character to have her own movie IMO. Then the fact she’s dead doesn’t really make me care any more.

Black Widow should have been made before Endgame. Hard to do a story when everyone knows what happens to her character.
Marvel shows on Disney+ have been solid so I don’t think you can say there is a hiccup. Hard to gauge movies in a pandemic as far as performance.

I doubt any movie gets near a billion in this climate

BW is having a hard time because:
1) it's titled for a character that is absolutely dead in the MCU
2) it's about 4 years late
3) it's middling in quality
Marvel's TV offerings have been okay (Falcon/WS) to good (Wandavision) to really good (Loki).
As noted, wait and see what happens with Spidey and Strange.

Shush you. This is a perfectly good "Doom! Doom! Marvel is doomed!" thread. Let people get their predictions of the coming apocalypse out of their system.

That’s an internal matter really. They’ll sort that out in no time.

You can thank blue states for that.

Short term L, long term positive.

This. Box office probably won’t get back to usual for everyone until next year. We’ll see how the big end of year movies do.

Combination of burnout and they aren't really putting out to many movies/series for characters that would draw huge audiences.
Spiderman should be their next biggest draw and could be a little more telling. But, right now I don't think you can draw too many conclusions based off of what has been released.

They’ll have a resurgence when they start pushing out their new XMen acquisition. It’s understandable there’d be a fall after the OGs gradually depart.

You mean the new story lines seem anticlimactic after the… climax of the other phases?

I was basically done with Marvel but I gave Loki a shot when I was sick earlier this week. It was pretty good & set up where they’re going well. I’m looking forward to it.

Is this the start of Marvel fatigue or is it just a hiccup?
Might just be coincidences and doesn’t mean anything, but the MCU is looking more and more DC at the moment.
I am not as much into the movies as I used to be, and this is genuine curiosity.
This thread is a shiny hook for the fricking DC/Fox fanbois that live to hate on the MCU.
But to answer your question, the MCU just had two stellar projects-WandaVision and Loki.
The Bucky Path aka the Earth bound heroes storylines, until the major questions are addressed are pretty much DOA.
It’s the cosmic side of Marvel that’s in the spotlight now.
Just like what Marvel did in the 70s.
Then bring it back to Earth to finally give fans a glimpse of what mutants are.

Is there anyone who doesn't understand that EVERYTHING in Phase 4 is setting the stage for the overarching Multiverse storyline(s)?
