The Jean Shepherd adaptations from PBS in the '70s were much better
I remember in the 90s when Turner began his campaign to manufacture this as a classic (24 hr marathons, etc). I wondered if he would succeed.

Yes but the success of The Grinch led to Mike Myers' Cat in the Hat being made and holy frick that movie was awful.

The marathon made this movie a not to watch movie for me. Just way too much overexposure.
