I think it's weird that I have to watch an ad to see a trailer.

I have to watch an ad to see an ad. I feel like I'm being fleeced.

Am I alone?

No you're right but you also are the individual choosing to use the platform. It's all fricked and capitalism has been subverted to support socialist end goals. It feels like game over but the horrific part, the equilibrium, has yet to come

shite, I didn't mean to go that deep, but I'll take your word for it.

I think it's time for a revolution.

No more ads for ads!

Who's with me!

Revenue generated by advertising is very much at the heart of capitalism

I've always said that. I always thought it was stupid that you have to watch a commercial to watch a commercial as well. But as long as it's 15 seconds or shorter, or I can skip it, it's whatever. But it is stupid though.

YouTube is getting a little uppity lately with all these “video will play after ad” or “video will play after adS”.

I gotta be honest. Sometimes those videos just aren’t worth it and I X out.

There used to be TV shows on primetime TV about the best commercials. That always blew my mind that people watched an hour long show about the best commercials and they would have tons of commercial breaks during the show.

I like when the ad for the trailer is the trailer you are about to watch

Agreed. I don't mind the ones you can skip after the first five seconds. If it's a video I really want to watch, I'll sit through a 15 second one. It's funny, because sometimes there are back to back 15 second ones and I find myself getting mad, which then makes me laugh because I couldn't sit there for 30 fricking seconds.

Settle down grandpa. I promise the government turned off their stream of propaganda that was being broadcast to your dentures.

My pet-peeve is trailer showing a 3-second tease and title card before the actual trailer

No ads with Youtube Premium. It's $12 a month well spent.

That's because we've somehow been convinced that trailers are now their own major event.

Trailers on YouTube now reach millions of views and have reaction/theory videos about them. Hell we have threads here just about big tent pole movie trailers.

I'm with you, Ham. Having to endure an ad before watching a trailer makes no sense.

Unless it's a platform that you're paying to use, you really don't have a valid complaint.

Always amazed by people that want free content, but balk at the provider having to come up with a way to financially provide it.

As for commercials before commercials, once you search to view a specific commercial it becomes content.

Yeah, what is the deal with that? I'm already watching. It's almost like they took journalism advice about putting the most important part of the story to start, then work your way back.

I don't think anybody is not understanding any of that. We just think it's kinda weird/silly.

I’ve noticed the last few weeks I’ve been getting a lot of two 15 seconds ads that can’t be skipped, maybe I’m spoiled but I’m not watching a 30 second commercial unless it’s something I really want to watch.

I am old enough to remember when cable TV was marketed as "well, since you pay for TV and it's not free we won't have any ads". Yeah, think about it that way as well. Unless you are watching OTA TV you are paying to watch ads if you pay for cable or a streaming service.

use an ad blocker. It's google/youtube. Screw their revenue.
