Brutal episode, very end in elevator was funny though. "Super weird".

this episode, meh. Next week looks awesome. Back to their best formula.

#1 reason to like this episode and why it wasn't totally meh....it looks like Marshall is done riding with the black lady. Let's all celebrate the end to this annoying plot line.

Zabka-tage

Zabka was good, but getting rid of that annoying black lady and the stupid car trip is 1000% better.

Wow was that a bad episode
Posted on 11/19/13 at 10:49 am to trident
That sounds fricking terrible. It's as if the entire season is going to be filler until the last episode.

I literally lol'd at that. I actually didn't find this episode to be as bad as everyone else did, or as bad as some other eps this season.
It's possible I was just in a better mood than I normally am when I watch though.

Outside of Zabka, this episode was BRUTAL. Just god awful.
And I'm usually a defender of this show.

I hope some obsessed fan studies these episodes and does some sort of infographic for various things. For instance, how many incredibly expensive bottles of alcohol were procured then later discarded before drinking. How many "wedding events" actually took place during the time frame. How annoyed the staff must be that this wedding party won't stay put in one area for longer than about 5 minutes.

They've just broken their third one.
I have a feeling to make everything work, they're going to have to introduce a Delorean at some point this season.

I bet we find out what Barney does for a living before it ends.

The frick??!
Have you not witnessed a single episode with mother moments?
And on that note...its a fricking sitcom. That's what it does. Attempt jokes, not some constant plot moving forward machine.

I did LOL at the sabotage part
You mean the Zabka-tage part.
This episode, outside of Zabka, was pretty weak. But at least it looks like the Marshall/black chick storyline is done with (although the "500 Miles" song part made me laugh).
And I love the "this was a filler episode" comments...every single episode of this series is a filler episode, because it's all bullshite stories Ted's telling to his kids before he gets to the final reveal of how he actually met their mother. Every single episode is filler. All of them.
This episode was pretty weak, but to call it "just a filler episode" is stupid.

No shite Cocomo. These people would only be satisfied if an entire series existed only in one 30 minute episode I assume.
That way, its all plot...no filler!

Well, the mother is just a conceit to tell stories about a group of five people from NYC who hang out together. It's never been "about" the mother, so it's not a filler episode because it was, well, about the same group of friends.
Also, if you do care about moving the plot, it did. Barney has a replacement officiant for the dead guy. Marshall (thankfully) has wrapped up his road trip. We have the reveal of Barney's mom getting back together with Wayne Brady's dad. So, actual plot points were advanced...
.. but more importantly, it was another episode of growth for Ted. He again selflessly put someone else's wants and desires ahead of his own. He let Zabka be the good guy ("You can come to Thanksgiving this year!"), feeling that he needed the win more. Ted has always been self-absorbed, but this season, he's been the guy doing things for other people. So it was an important episode from a character standpoint.
Still, not the strongest episode. I did like everything to do with Zabka, especially his phone call to his mom. The song and dance number has been a long time coming (come on, Brady and NPH?). Some good site gags (the beached squid) and a great callback ("everyone knows about the pineapple, Ted")
A well-constructed episode, but it had an icky A-plot (Barney was plotting to murder his stepmom, which is insane even by his standards) and the continued drag of the Marshall road trip.
And I know Cocomo hates it, but no "Thank you, Linus" drops it a letter grade.

A letter? No way.
And that joke was great for an episode and a half. I don't mind it being a running thing for the season, but they were definitely overusing it. Them not using it last night may make it funny again later down the road.
