I thought it was a pretty good episode overall. I think they're trying a little too hard with the mom though.
No way some random chick who got hit on would go into some shpeel about how you're unhappy for losing your love and give you a hug. Thought that part was beyond lame.
The Globetrotters part was funny. The challenges were awesome and Barney writing his last play was perfect.

At first I thought it sucked but I got some good laughs out of it. Really creative stuff from the writers. That seems like a hard arse episode to write.

I enjoyed this one. It seemed like a throwback to the early seasons. Good creative envelope pushing.

Haven't seen the rhyme episode yet but is it basically their version of a musical episode similar I scrubs or psych?

How was it, for those who saw? Was it TOO gimmicky or classic himym? Was it like a simpsons treehouse episode where it's completely separate from a main storyline, or does it still tie in with the plotline we've seen all season?

I enjoyed the episode, but the rhyming did almost get on my nerves. It was cool at first, but got sort of boring...but I appreciate their willingness to do an entire episode around it.
I'm surprised I'm not seeing "filler episode" comments, since this one didn't really move anything along at all and was sort of a stand alone episode (even though all episodes are basically filler, as was discussed a week or two ago).

i had the same feeling.....about 2 minutes into it, i was thinking, frick, i hope this whole episode doesn't rhyme
i was annoyed for a while, and i think that some of the time the rhymes distracted you from what was actually happening, even though it was "filler" like you mentioned

Gimmicky. It was completely separate and didnt add anything to the plot for the season.

I did like tonight's episode, though. You kinda expected that ending but I still thought it was cool.

Definitely a solid episode, though I expected there to be an actual laser tag rehearsal dinner instead of Barney flipping it.
