If they're going for a more "realistic" angle, I hope they have a good explanation for how a 61 year old maniac that doesn't speak or have any real knowledge of the outer world managed to sneak out of the suburbs and evade capture for 40 years.

Picking up a teenager by his throat with one hand may be a little tougher for a guy in his 60's, too

I'm willing to bet the writers don't take this into consideration

A mask and a jumpsuit is the most inconspicuous thing he could think of?

Halloween II made him into some unstoppable force who survived six shots to the torso without missing a step, a shot to the face, and finally (hypothetically) surviving an explosion and being burned to a crisp in the ensuing inferno.

He did get shot multiple times point blank and fall off a balcony then walk away in the original.

Dont forget, stabbed in the shoulder and stabbed in the eye.

Skipping 4 really isolates the fans of the series, but skipping 2 is insane as many casual fans thinks 1 and 2 as one series of events.

Michael was supernatural in the 1st movie. They are jacking the franchise around for the die hard fans which will be the base audience since this is not a reboot.

They be better off going from near the end of 5 when Dr Loomis collapses on michael who was under the chain then shoot another scene where Loomis died right there and start a movie.

I imagine they are going from 1 because JLC and JC did not like part 2. JLC coming back adds star power to the franchise. I would perfer Danielle Harris come back and go from there.

Lastly the reason the franchise has done so well was because he is an unstopable force. Like Jason, Freddy etc

They may take away 2, but I will always love this hottub scene . . .

Lame. This tactic didn't work for Superman Returns either.

Why? I hate all the different timelines. A creative writer could weave it all together. Even if some parts are just a dream. So now we have Halloween 1, 2, 4, 5, 6 timeline; Halloween 1, 2, H2O, Resurrection Timeline; and Halloween 1 and new movie timeline? Fans of the series deserve better

The issue is that they just had a reboot. Thanks to Rob Zombie (who completely fricked the franchise up), this is what we have.

So the choices were:

1. Complete reboot. This would be a bad idea because they just did that. Then you also couldn't include Jamie Lee Curtis in the story.

2. Make a movie that includes 2. But then you have to explain Michael Myers getting burnt up. Part 2 is also not as remembered as the original. Even though a lot of us are very familiar with 2, the rest of the world is not. It didn't review very well either.

3. Do what they're doing. Make it a sequel to the iconic movie. The one that everyone has seen. The classic. Make it a continuation of one of the most popular horror movies ever.

I think a continuation of any of the others is not a good idea (like 5, 6, H2O, Resurrection). Some of them were pretty bad and nobody will know anything about them. MAYBE H2O, but that was a mixed bag.

You have to do one of these, or don't even bother making it. I would prefer they make it a timeline after 2, but it makes more sense from a broad acceptance standpoint to make it a continuation of 1. Box office wise as well.

Maybe they need to just not make it at all, but if they are, I think they're making the best decision.

Just because you can make people laugh, doesn’t mean you can’t also scare them.

On Halloween I would say that get-up is pretty inconspicuous.

I understand ignoring everything after Halloween 2, but it's not like 2 is some horrible film in the series.

I really liked the 1st movie in the reboot. The second just got very strange. I don't think this is going to work though. Just doesn't fit..

It may not. But I think based on the circumstances, it's the best way to go.

I think it will depend on execution, but I like the idea. They'll have to make the style very similar to the original. Much like the new Blade Runner.

I don't mind it. I'm a sucker for these Halloween movies

After the original I think 4 is the best

They did a good job with H20 as well
