“Wedding Crashers”. Didn’t know anything about it and randomly watched late one night several years ago. Laughed my arse off.

“Sideways” for me…I was in college when it came out and not really in my sphere. Finally watched it a few years ago and really enjoyed it. I thought it was some stupid romcom.

Two decades ago I just checked out this foreign movie at the University library on a lark...because of them telling you nothing on the cover and back jacket. It was a mystery.

Now its a Criterion Collection release...

Go figure.

I don't know if I would call it great, but I stumbled upon 'Blinded by the Light' just as it was starting and really enjoyed it.

It is the story of a Pakistani immigrant to England discovering the music of Bruce Springsteen.

Roll Bounce

Was flipping through the cable channels one evening, this caught my eye. I'm a sucker for period pieces, and I was about the same age as the kids in this movie back in the 70s. It was very early in the movie, so I decided to leave it on.

Man, I'm glad I did. Great little movie, nothing art-worthy, but just a great story with middle-class minority kids coming of age, chasing girls one summer in late 1970s suburban Chicago. Their life is centered mainly around the disco skating craze that was getting really popular at the time. Theres's a touching subplot about the main character and his family dealing with the recent death of the mom. And a great soundtrack.

Good family movie, as well-- I caught it with my daughters the next time it was on, and we all enjoyed it.

Interesting cast-- Bow Wow did a great job as the main character; Chi McBride was fantastic as his dad; Wayne Brady disguised with a dashiki and fake afro was a hoot, and Mike Espy and Eddie Murphy's brother Charlie as wisecracking garbagemen.

I'd recommend it.

A Knight's Tale. I saw it randomly on TBS or TNT a couple of years after it came out and was hooked.

Bubba Hotep - saw the dvd on sale used at an Electronics Boutique. I am a fan of just about anything Bruce Campbell is in. Loved it.

Scott Pilgrim vs the World - never really heard of it (had young kid when it came out in theaters), was trying to rock kid to sleep on a late night and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Ravenous..weird memory.

In college and came home after a night of drinking and my roommate and I just happened to come across Ravenous on cable. We both started to get hungry but all we had was a couple of cans of chunky beef stew. We sat around the coffee table eating our chunky beef stew watching that crazy arse movie.

Frankie Starlight.

Quirky indie movie about a wee guy in Dublin. On HBO late one night. Heartwarming, well-made.

Not really an accident but I was not planning to see either and they ended up being two of my favorites. I was a freshman in college and was taking my girlfriend at the time to go see what I believe was failure to launch. We got into a an argument in the parking lot and she left me at the theater. Since I had nowhere to go and no ride I went inside and watched V is for Vendetta and Slither back to back.
