Or if he just believes she can protect the North as it's ruler and he cannot. And he does not want to. Still the reluctant Hero.
As he said to Sansa. "Do you have any faith in me at all? She will be a good Queen."

But, hypothetically, if they were to defeat the Night King together Dany could still demand he bend the knee afterwards. Then what's his play?
ETA: I just find it comical/stupid that it's even an issue. What part of "zombie army led by White Walkers" do they not comprehend? You can't beat them OR Dany's army, you kinda have to fall in line.
"the King in the North will remain in the North, and not take up arms afterwards"?
Was Cersei offering the North independence? Because it sounds like the North wouldn't accept any Southern ruler, and whoever is on the Iron Throne would have to deal with that revolt at some point.
And ironically enough, it's the North most threatened by the Night King (immediately, although everyone is at risk). So these Northern lords are petulantly sitting and wanting independence while simultaneously needing "the protector of the Seven Realms" to rescue them...?

The weapon Arya wants built. Wonder who it will be for?
I think it's being set up to be worth at least 1 great kill..

Now, this is the exact quote of what Jon says to Lady Mormont:
“I had a choice. Keep my crown or protect the North. I choose the North.”
That response is a lie.
I see what you're saying, but maybe you aren't using the best words to get your point across. Technically, Dany didn't come to Jon with a bend the knee or die proclamation, but Jon makes it sound like that - probably to make it sound better/easier for the people of the North to accept. I don't think it's a lie more than it is him just openly admitting he doesn't want the crown though.
I have no idea how the people of the North will react if/when it gets out that Jon is a Targ.

She had a season's worth of experience training with a staff vs the waif, so a staff with dragon glass tip would be something she could use.
I almost thought a blowgun, something we saw employed by Jacen. Killed the guy coming to tell Tywin. Interesting concept, how much dragon glass actually is needed to kill a wight or a White Walker? Would a tiny dart suffice?
Y'know, when she showed Gendry the dagger, I was wondering if she was going to ask him to rework that. It's kind of big, relatively speaking... might you be able to draw it out into a longer, thinner blade? Like... NEEDLE, but Valerian steel version?

I would think they would get over it, he is still just as much Stark as he was when they thought he was Ned's bastard.

They used to date. It didnt end well. They hate each other.

They absolutely despise each other and have it in both of their contracts that they will not film scenes together or even be on the same set.

At that point, if they survive, then I'd say "thank you for saving us with your armies and dragons" would be the reaction to Dany.
and as I said before, the Wildlings should be all-in for her anyway. They followed Tormund's lead.
Jon: dude let us through the wall, got us involved in the revolt of the Night Watch, Battle of the Bastards, and put us on the Wall.
Dany: flew up on her dragon, saved Tormund from certain death beyond the wall, pledged to kill the Night King with her dragons and army.
The Wildlings are probably more practical than the Northerners, and she'd be the more effective ally, IF you had to choose one or the other.

They dated. It ended bad. Somebody hates one or both do. It is why he had to go get a "drink" during the meeting last season. They won't film together.

I think it was just a way to better her odds of somehow defeating Daenerys. At that point I don't believe she intended on letting anyone be independent.

They dated IRL and now she hates his guts with a passion. I think the plot ploy was drawn up to get Bronn back in the show.

Uh... welcome to leadership at any level, albeit it on a much smaller scale obviously

Quick question regarding John and the Night King.
Since John has already died once (stabbed by the other Knights of the Watch) is it possible that somehow this will somehow keep him from ever being used by the Night King if "killed" in the future?
Just curious as I was wondering about The Hound and The Mountain 's potential fight in the future and if The Mountain can even be "killed" seeing as how he is already technically dead.
Just wondering...

The lord of light brought him back. Only he and Beric (& SH in book) have been brought back to life by lord of light. I would think NK can most likely kill Jon, but I dont think NK can turn Jon into a wight. Not really any basis for this but just my hunch.
*I think NK can probably use the undead Mountain as he was brought back by Qyburn voodoo.

Not too late baw.
Jon is going to need more convincing. Bran will obviously follow up that conversation.

I came looking for the discussion on Samwell telling Jon the truth about who he is and the amazing line “You gave up your throne for her, will she do it for you?” and all I find is a bunch of bitching and whining and moaning.
Jesus frick, you dickheads don’t know how to enjoy ANYTHING.
