hat dead kid at the end was one of, if not the creepiest thing they’ve done so far in the season.
I used to think that skirting the line of what is allowed was funny and rebellious. Now I know it's just a road to making everything used up and putrefied.

Are you a Danny fan or something?

When you join the Night's Watch you leave behind all family ties. It's human nature to carry that past with you, but technically Sam isn't Tarly anymore. This is why last names are stripped at the wall. The last name thing has kind of been trampled on with the show placing such emphasis on Mormont, Targaryen, Stark, and Snow last names at the wall.

By the way, Jon is lying, and Sam is wrong about him
Either the writing is messed up, or Bran is up to something
Go back to the moment he wakes up on the ship, with Dany.
Dany tells him that he was right, and that she will fight the Night King.
So Jon got the ally he needed, and at that moment he was still King in the North.
He says "thank you Dany", and she says don't call her that. So he says "how about my Queen".
He doesn't bend the knee to get her help, he doesn't give up being King in the North to get her armies.
Sansa was right when she asked "did you do it for the North, or because you love her?". He did it because he loved her.
So Sam is wrong. Jon didn't give up his crown for the cause. And Bran should know that, and isn't sharing it (at least not with Sam). And yet Bran sends Sam in to give Jon the news, without having that key bit of info.

He is in love with her.
He also did it for his people.
He also believes she will be a good Queen.
It doesn't have to be one or the other.
Edit: The drama in that is people will question his loyalty to the North by seeing that love. But he still did not bend out of selfish reasons.

I think you're reading too much into that. It's 100% possible he bent the knee in order to help save the realm while also being in love with her at the same time

Jon 100% does not give a shite about titles or the throne. I guarantee he’s not the one to tell Dany about his true identity, he’ll hide it because he doesn’t want that.
It’ll go something like this, sub out Sam for Bran or whoever
Sam to Dany: STFU Dany you aren’t even the heir to the throne! Jon is Aegon the 6th of his name firstborn of your brother Rheagar!
Dany: stares shockingly at Jon...”is this true?”
Jon: pouty face...”yes, he told me a couple days ago.”
Dany: “you knew and didn’t tell me? Wtf!”
Jon: “I don’t care about the iron throne! I want your tits and to live
Dany: “dracarys!”

Jon is lying. Lying to the North about bending the knee. He didn't have to do that, because Dany had just promised that she would join the fight against the Night King.
He bent the knee after she made this promise.
But he's telling Sansa and the rest a different story, that he HAD to bend the knee to get her on his side.
I find it interesting that he's doing this 1 episode after he refused to lie to Cersei, on grounds of honor.
They've had over a year to get this stuff lined up, and find it hard to believe they just did this by accident.

I think it's a spear to kill a dragon.

quote:Isn't that pretty realistic? There's only countless stories of power struggles within families that are wealthy or have that kind of control to fight over.
After all the shite Dany has been through, she isn’t giving up that title. Also, Sansa needs to get GOT. Arya sticking up for Sansa to Jon really pissed me off. Those two are being unreasonable with the end of their world as they know it looming on the horizon. That whole meeting of the houses pissed me off. The selfishness is unreal. It sort of reminded me of LSU’s BOS.

Jon was #metoo'ed by Dany. He's embarrassed to admit that to his family.

So he did the "honorable" thing with Cersei but you think he's lying to Dany and the entire North?
So you think he does want the crown? That goes against everything we've ever known about Jon. All of a sudden he's going to pull off this massive lie. I guess he schemed this up during his sleep.

But like I said, he created a huge mess in the truce by refusing to lie to Cersei. It was "I have to tell the truth, even if it means we will all die and become zombies, because I am honorable".
And Tyrion jumped his shite about learning to LIE, just a little
So now, he rolls into Winterfell, and goes with the "I bent the knee so that Danaerys would come save you" angle. And the first person to speak up for him was... not Davos, but Tyrion. Her Hand, not his; and the most expert politician of the group.
Why Bran (and Sam) would willingly sow dissent while the Night King marches on Winterfell makes zero sense. Last thing you want is distraction, when the fate of the world is on the line. And that big-arse army will follow Dany, not Jon. The dragons- I don't think Drogon ever would turn against Dany, while Rhaegon might flip now. Figure they'd both want to sit out a J vs D fight.

Bran knows Dany is not the answer to the Night King issue?

He does tend to do what he feels is the right thing, so ultimately if he can be convinced Dany is a danger (didn't we see this approach with BvS, and decide it was stupid?) he might turn for drama. Though I think the better dramatic writing is him taming her wilder impulses. Varys and Tyrion discussed taming her last season, Jon's the perfect person to do so.
He's the total opposite of Euron, who's now Cersei's man (and the anti-Jon).
You have the bitter Queen in KL, now being egged on by the braggart psycho, vs the fundamentally decent but temperamental Queen being stroked by the calm, humble but capable reluctant hero.
Hmmm, now I think the final episode will be Jon/Dany vs Euron/Cersei.
Not really sure how you can make that overlay with the whole Night King apocalypse, because as Jon has said repeatedly, none of the politics really matter.
Gonna be interesting

Yea. Bran knows Jon is key in this. Everything he is doing is for a reason.

This is very true.
But, hypothetically, if they were to defeat the Night King together Dany could still demand he bend the knee afterwards. Then what's his play?
ETA: I just find it comical/stupid that it's even an issue. What part of "zombie army led by White Walkers" do they not comprehend? You can't beat them OR Dany's army, you kinda have to fall in line.

It is true that he bent the knee in that order.
By Danny showing up to save them and by her agreeing to fight the Night King. It showed Jon that she was worthy. That she could be a good Queen. That does not make anything Jon has done or said a lie.
He was still bending his knee for his people. Because she has the armies and he believes in her.

How has he lied?
Dany pledged to join Jon and fight the Night King, before Jon bent the knee. She dropped that condition after they went beyond the Wall. She admitted that it must be done, she had to see, and now she has.
Jon bent the knee after she did that.
Now, this is the exact quote of what Jon says to Lady Mormont:
“I had a choice. Keep my crown or protect the North. I choose the North.”
That response is a lie.
I guess it isn't, if you take the angle that Jon feels Dany might one day ride North to reclaim it as part of the 7 Kingdoms under her rule.
