I love the smirky face, looks like she's always thinking about something dirty.

I'd be fingerpoppin her esshole.

For what its worth. I liked the episode. You have untrained morons attacking a massively defenced wall of death.

Heck, if the Black Watch was even remotely competent they would have kicked far more arse.

I guess big bodies doesn't mean big brains because the giants should have waited MUCH longer to make their attack.

Hmmm. I guess that would be a nitpick. Mance evidently sucks as a leader and yet he was supposed to be some awesome leader.

I guess that whole attack could have been a test wave but then that wouldn't make much sense sending the Southern attack if they were just probing the defenses. Which by the way, Mr Superstar Mance should have done. Or he probably should have known all of the defenses.

Is he a double naught spy?

Wasn't expecting red to take an arrow but there was no way to like her much anymore since she loves garroting women and sticking arrows in anything that moves.

Also not sure why she hesitated after putting 3 in Snow last season.

I really want to read the books but glad I haven't. Not knowing what was going to happen really ramped up the tension.

Loved the Big Anchor of Death.

Overall, I am quite pleased with this season but Joffree dying a slow painful death was really all I needed to be happy.

The more I think about it, the attack from the North really wasn't a test wave, but more of a diversion. You light a giant fire and then send a few giants and big arse mastadons and a few thousand wildlings from the North to get the Watch's attention. Meanwhile, that giant arse fire is the signal for the wildlings already across the wall to attack from the South. If that group can take Castle Black, then they can just open the gate and the entire wildling army can flood through unscathed. If the diversion and the small raiding party don't work, then you've got 100k wildlings to just hit the wall with numbers, but you're going to have fewer that survive to flood into the South.

I'm thinking more and more that Mance is a much better tactician than he's getting credit for.

One item that I haven't seen posted that also needs to get some love is the score from this episode. I thought it was fantastic and added another level of intensity to the action scenes.

I think it was during a preview that they showed a drogan shadow over KL. Since I dont think we have seen the dragons the last few episodes maybe they will end it with the shadow. Dany could have sent the dragons on just to show what is coming.

Maybe in the book, but not in the show.

He should have had them waste the oil drums on useless wildlings. Then bring out the mammoths and giants.

Of course it it possible he has a herd of mammoths and scores of giants in reserve. Just don't know. I still think he should have tested the defenses with the least desirable tribes first.

We saw the shadow in Bran's vision when he touched the first tree. It is not apparent if he was seeing the dragon shadow over KL from the past or from the future. I believe his visions were a mix of past and future.

If Mance just sends another couple of waves they will take it. Hell they almost took it with the first wave.

If Mance was such a great general, you would think he would scout out which Keeps on the Wall are no longer occupied and simply climb there.

Bad luck or poor tactical skills, for him to choose the one spot on the massive wall that is actually defended.

Second time I've agreed with you 100% in this thread.

She is totally meh in the face(too round, too flat), but a smoking body.

That's what I was screaming...the entire wall isn't guarded. Just walk down it ten/twenty miles and climb/cross it with no fight whatsoever, and then attack Castle Black from the much easier south.

I'm assuming the only gate is at Castle Black because if not then it makes no sense at all. I guess if it is then maybe they don't have many people that can scale the wall.

Yeah, I wondered about that earlier, and asked how many gates there are.

I might ask that in the middle ground thread...if that's the only one, then it obviously makes sense that that's where they'd center the attack.

that's a good question. for some reason i remember them saying shadowgate? am i mixing other shows/books with GOT? i thought shadow tower was one of the other manned towers so it would make sense for it to have a gate. maybe not. maybe it's just a watch tower and all the comings and goings are through one gate.

Shadow tower and watch by the sea or something like that are the other two instillations on the wall. No idea if they have gates. I just asked in the middle thread though.
