I wonder if to defeat him they have to fly up North to where he originated and destroy some sort of object tied into his powers
or...replace him with something/someone else
this is the only thing that even halfway makes sense...our heroes are hopelessly outnumbered, the enemy cant be exhausted/starved/slowed, their numbers only increase as more of our heroes die, they have giants and a dragon of their own, etc etc etc
also, something has to happen with bran. is it reasonable to assume that the whole three-eyed raven thing was JUST to be able to see the past? bran has a role to play and only he has access to the playbook

Is trailer full of spoilers and footage that allows you to piece together what will happen and ruin the season?
Has Game of Thrones ever dropped a trailer like that?

In the books they also have Ice Spiders lol.
Again, I will be disappointed if we get a Lich King scenario.

I’d guess it has something to do with the White Walkers in the crypts of Winterfell. Which leads me to a question...how the hell did they get under Winterfell?
What if Bran the Builder built a tunnel from Winterfell to TLAW?
Eta: CAN WE PLEASE frickING GET CLEGANEBOWL THIS SEASON

Jamie is going to make the GOAT character redemption arc.
Yup. He went from the pure villain in S1E1 to the hero we want in the final season.

Yeah, this would be lame. Blizzard already did that with an ice king that rules an army of undead.

Talking about that battle scene in the dark?
I THOUGHT it was Jaime, then noticed he was wielding his sword right-handed. In other words... not Jaime.
It looks like Brianne, with Jamie looking on.

But will it be enough to keep Bran from turning Arya loose on him.

i'm not familiar with WoW canon. is it like Pirates of the Carribean where there always has to be a Night/Lich king/undead pirate?

I’m ignorant as to what this is. Could you explain it to me?

I think they removed Jon and Dany from these shots.
Do they dare to copy the Star Wars trench run? Dany leads Viserion and NK down through a tight valley, just like Luke led Darth Vader.
And suddenly, Jon Solo comes in from above with a "yee haw" and takes him out, and says "you're all clear kid, now blow this thing"
That might not be THIS scene, but I think it's probably one of the few ways you get Viserion out of the game.

Not a book reader, but saw this passage in an article quoting the book. Could we have Dire wights???
quote:
He was walking through the crypts beneath Winterfell, as he had walked a thousand times before. The Kings of Winter watched him pass with eyes of ice, and the direwolves at their feet turned their great stone heads and snarled.

You kill the night king, you become the night king.
Every play FFX? It's like 'Sin'. You can't kill him forever. You can only buy time. You defeat him, you get a break from him, but winter will eventually come back.

I think it is true Arya Stark has more on-screen kills verifiable.
Bronn and and Dany probably lead for actual most, but Arya is damn clinical with hers.
She is going to be the one with the key kill of Cersei.

In World of Warcraft Lore, the main figurehead of evil for a long time was a fallen prince named Arthas.
There's a demonic being inside of a helmet that calls him to murder his own people and find the sword Frostmourne. This sword has the ability to hold the souls of the dead on top of the ability to raise them.
Heroes are sent to Ice Crown Citadel (a place eerily like The Lands of Always Winter) to defeat Arthas. Bolvar, a high Paladin and leader of that force that didnt die in an earlier battle at the Wrath Gate, becomes Arthas little toy. The heroes climb Ice Crown Citadel and succeed in killing the Lich King.
However, there is a cost. With no Lich King, undead will run around rampant subjugated no more. There must always be a Lich King. Bolvar burned to a crisp assumes that power. Therefore, any undead are under his control.
The major differences is that Wights die when their WW is killed, ergo the Night King subjugating all.
However, if there is some rule that creates an imbalance in The Lands of Always Winter, you may need someone you trust to claim the mantle of the Night King.

Or that he bypasses Winterfell with a portion of his army while the majority of his forces attack. Thos at Winterfell then think they've fended off/defeated him only to find that he's amassed another army south and taken King's Landing. I wonder if to defeat him they have to fly up North to where he originated and destroy some sort of object tied into his powers. Idk, totally half-baked idea
That actually makes a lot of sense.
Remember Rob did this to Jamie who then took that same concept and schooled Dany on it.
The only reason to not roll with this - Bran.
He is supposed to see all and if he missed 50,000 dead going South, he was not ready.

Bran is dead technically, so I do not know if it matters to him.

It’s certainly possible. But that passage isn’t referring to wights.
