Actually, that would be one hell of an idea.
Sort of like Battle of the Pelennor Fields was a great victory for the West, but it was only a small part of Sauron's forces.
This would make sense in that it would take Cersie and the Golden Company off the table (they are there to knock off Dany and the stragglers from the North. They would never be expecting Night King and Co. rolling in.

A show like this has to be a complete meal.
Like filet mignon that's perfectly grilled and seared to the very centimeter and the sides of grilled asparagus and garlic roasted potatoes being bountiful and complimentary of the steak, with a nice dry, red wine to wash it down.

The kinda shot from the rear is supposed to give you a jolt in the feelings in a major way. Seeing Jon on the back of Rhaegal like that would do exactly that.

Don't wanna watch. Is trailer full of spoilers and footage that allows you to piece together what will happen and ruin the season?
